How do I get the sticky crap off of my Collector's Edition DVD sleeve?

I bought the Collector's Edition of XTLS yesterday, and when I tried to peel the stupid stickers off of the plastic sleeve, it left a bunch of sticky crap on it. I tried warm water, soapy water, rubbing alchohol, and nail polish remover, and none of them did anything to get rid of it. I was originally going to try WD40 but I don't have any.

Please tell me, does anyone have a good method for removing the sticky residue? I'm afraid to put the sleeve on the shelf with my other DVDs because I don't want it to stick to them, and also I just don't want patches of sticky crap on it!

does anybody have any good recipes for chocolate cake too? :p j/k

I couldn't do it either.

Don't try blow-drying it, it warps the case. :down

someone once told me once to try vegetable oil for junk like that but i never tried it

I always just use the same stickers that left the glue.

Basically, I reapply a sticker over the glue, then repeatedly pull it off. The glue doesn't come off all at once, but you will soon start to notice it is gradually diminishing. You can actually remove all traces of the stuff using this method, although it takes some experimenting to find what works best. (ie. You usually don't want to rip it off so fast that the glue is unaffected.)

However, this approach is best done as soon as you remove the stickers.

Yeah, these stickers live in opposite land because when I tried that, the stickers just kept leaving more residue :P

lol true. I'm gonna try some crisco next, I think.

There's a solution called "Goo Gone" that could help--my dad uses it for his model trains. I just used to get the same sticky crap off my new 'Star Wars' dvds, and it worked great. I'm guessing you could find at Target or Walmart or any place like that.

Hope that helps!!

Sure enough, the Crisco worked. I put a little dab of it on a napkin and started rubbing, and then kept adding more as needed. It takes a while to see it working, but if you have patience and just keep rubbing at it, it'll eventually come off. The real tough SOB though was the store sticker. The residue from the "official" one came off a lot faster.

Once the sticky residue is gone, just clean off the Crisco at the kitchen sink with a non-rough sponge (as in, none of that rough blue material on one side), some warm water, and a litttle dish soap. Now all that's left is for the thing to air dry, after you wipe up some of the water with a clean napkin.

Hm, we don't have Crisco but I'll give it a shot with veggie or olive oil.!

Goo Gone is the best.

I used it to get the sticky stuff (how inappropriate does that sound) off my X-men 1.5 set.

Goo-Gone.

But I wouldn't call anything related to X3 "collector's edition".
