Since this will most likely be an origin story, how should they introduce Superman to the world? In the movies he normally stops some catastrophe or major accident. In TAS and IIRC, Byrne's MOS he stops a crashing plane. Should it be big and bold like in SR? or more subdued and character driven? I personally think it should involve an Intergang operation gone bad, wich puts civilians in danger.

So, how would you introduce Superman in the movie? :hehe:

i love the plane scene in SR.

but dear lord would this be the perfect introduction scene for an origin movie.
why?
it involves a lot of people in an extreme situation. peopel on the plane can die and people in the city can die. and on top of that t involves flying. the power that everone on sueprman loves.
its a perfect scene for an origin movie. to bad that they will not use it.

A mix of elements between Byrne's MOS and Birthright.

I think NOT being yet another origin story is far more likely. I think we''l open the story with Superman already established - maybe for a few months, maybe years.

I really think that whoever gets to do this will be smart enough to know we don't need it. Retreading old ground was part of what caused the failure of the last film. Another origin would not only be re-treading Superman The Movie, but also Smallville and every other Superhero origin movie in recent years.

What's more important than how Superman is introduced to the world is how he's introduced to us - the very first scene should be an action scene with Superman. I'd love to see bits of Superman's origin retold throughout this series but another full origin is just a waste of an entire movie. Why tell an old story yet again when you could be telling a new one?

I agree, but that doesn't mean they cant show us some new stuff from Krypton. I'd like to see more of his parents and the way of life on Krypton. Possibly some civil-war action and what eventually leads to the world's demise.

They should show these parts in flashbacks or maybe prolonged dream-sequences Kal-El could experience.

Oh, I'm not asking about an origin. I'm asking about the scene in which Superman would make his first appearance to the public :cwink:

Yeah, some more Krypton stuff could be cool. I still would like to see the "return to Krypton" scenes from SR, just out of morbid curiousity. I just want to know why Singer dropped them at the last minute.

I'd suggest a Bank heist involving 1 or more helicopters. It'd involve saving civilians, taking down gunnmen, flying and pottentially carrying a huge aircraft singlehandedly.

I know. :) I guess I just responded to lujho's post.

But a re-introduction to the audience?
A bank heist is not big and "spectacular" enough for Superman IMO. And a bank heist is bit of a cliche, no offence.

Saving a plane? Weeeeell.... not exiting enough either. Should be something to blow our minds I think. This IS the most powerful being on the planet.

Hmmm, what about him going up against a level 5 hurricane and somehow divert it, engulf it?
Or catching a meteor?

Hehe, I dunno. Something BIG...

I'd have Clark working in the daily planet ( His First day) He has already been introduced to everyone and is working alone at his desk.

Lois and Jimmy are down at the docks, covering the launch of a new ultra-state-of-the-art cruise ship.

The Governor, mayor, etc are all there to witness the launch. 2,000 vip guests set sail on it's maiden voyage.

The ship humms along slowly, making it's way out of Metroplolis harbor and toward the open sea. Horns blairing in celebration.

Lois and jimmy, their job done, turn to leave when suddenly an explosion rocks the area. Alarms sound. Lois is knocked to her knees by the blast. She looks up and sees the ship is on fire and is starting to list badly. Fire boats and coast guard ships try to make there way through the smoke and flames.

Clark sitting at his desk back at the daily planet. He's typing when he suddenly hears something odd.

Too much clutter. Car horns, a baby crying, street venders. He hears it all. He blocks it all out and concentrates on one sound and one sound only. He has it.

He looks up horrified. He rushes to an empty room, rips open his shirt, and reveals the fimilar \S/, and is gone in a flash.

Dockside: the Ship is listing badly now. Fire and smoke cover over half of it. The coast guard save several, but the fire is to intense to get closer. People are on deck screaming for help.

Jimmy snaps away. He slowly stops, and realizes these people are going to die. He looks at Lois and she gives him the same knowing look.

A red and blue flash passes by. Jimmy sees it but thinks he imagined it and just shakes his head.
The flames suddenly disappear and the ship not only rights itself, but rises out of the water and hovers there, then slowly floats back toward the pier.

Jimmy and Lois both have a ''What the Hell''? look on their faces.

Jimmy takes his camera and zooms in on the ship. He can't believe it. There, at the bottom of the hull is a man carrying the ship like it was nothing.

Speechless, he motions for Lois to look as well. Her jaw drops.

The 1,000 foot long ship flies over the dock and comes to rest on dry land, where it is gently sat down. The man clad in blue and red walks out, and flies up to check on the passengers.

Thousands of cheers erupt from the crowds already gathered.

ambulances, firetrucks, and police all rush to the site. Superman helps get the injuried off, then satisfied that there are no further injuries, makes a platform for the passengers to exit.

Superman hovers down toward the ground and speaks with the mayor for a moment, then turns and flies off.

Jimmy snaps away with his camera.

Lois is awestruck. What a Suuuuperman is all she can say.

Lex Luthor, back in Lex-corp, Sees the site on T.v. and pounds his desk in anger. That would have netted me 400 mill in insurance money, he growls.

He should save a train, be faster than a bullet and fly in the same scene giving him the classic phrases More powerful than a locomotive, faster than a speeding bullet and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

He could stop a war. That'd be kinda cool.

Nothing too grandoise; the action should get bigger as the film goes on.

He does that in my script. Bu that's in the beginning, pre-Superman costume. The first time he is seeing in costume is when he stops an inaugural ride of an LexCorp train from being attacked by Terrorists. Lois is interviewing Luthor inside it. The rest you can figure it out. ;)

I disliked Superman Returns. But, from the minute I saw the plane rescue scene. I knew that scene would have been the PERFECT scene to introduce Superman to the world. It had everything.

I don't care what they do as long as it involves more than just Superman lifting giant objects above his head, because that's ALL he did in SR.

Another plane rescue would be repetitive. But I'd definitely go for something that utilizes his speed and flight on a grand scale.

I'm thinking something along the lines of saving several people falling from a skyscraper due to a disaster. Or they could do an updated STM route ala Birthright, and have him save Lois and Jimmy from a heli. Only with better effects and more danger to add thrill.

what if he fought a giant spider or a polar bear?

Say, Superman hasnt had his monorail action piece yet, has he?
