I'd have Clark working in the daily planet ( His First day) He has already been introduced to everyone and is working alone at his desk.
Lois and Jimmy are down at the docks, covering the launch of a new ultra-state-of-the-art cruise ship.
The Governor, mayor, etc are all there to witness the launch. 2,000 vip guests set sail on it's maiden voyage.
The ship humms along slowly, making it's way out of Metroplolis harbor and toward the open sea. Horns blairing in celebration.
Lois and jimmy, their job done, turn to leave when suddenly an explosion rocks the area. Alarms sound. Lois is knocked to her knees by the blast. She looks up and sees the ship is on fire and is starting to list badly. Fire boats and coast guard ships try to make there way through the smoke and flames.
Clark sitting at his desk back at the daily planet. He's typing when he suddenly hears something odd.
Too much clutter. Car horns, a baby crying, street venders. He hears it all. He blocks it all out and concentrates on one sound and one sound only. He has it.
He looks up horrified. He rushes to an empty room, rips open his shirt, and reveals the fimilar \S/, and is gone in a flash.
Dockside: the Ship is listing badly now. Fire and smoke cover over half of it. The coast guard save several, but the fire is to intense to get closer. People are on deck screaming for help.
Jimmy snaps away. He slowly stops, and realizes these people are going to die. He looks at Lois and she gives him the same knowing look.
A red and blue flash passes by. Jimmy sees it but thinks he imagined it and just shakes his head.
The flames suddenly disappear and the ship not only rights itself, but rises out of the water and hovers there, then slowly floats back toward the pier.
Jimmy and Lois both have a ''What the Hell''? look on their faces.
Jimmy takes his camera and zooms in on the ship. He can't believe it. There, at the bottom of the hull is a man carrying the ship like it was nothing.
Speechless, he motions for Lois to look as well. Her jaw drops.
The 1,000 foot long ship flies over the dock and comes to rest on dry land, where it is gently sat down. The man clad in blue and red walks out, and flies up to check on the passengers.
Thousands of cheers erupt from the crowds already gathered.
ambulances, firetrucks, and police all rush to the site. Superman helps get the injuried off, then satisfied that there are no further injuries, makes a platform for the passengers to exit.
Superman hovers down toward the ground and speaks with the mayor for a moment, then turns and flies off.
Jimmy snaps away with his camera.
Lois is awestruck. What a Suuuuperman is all she can say.
Lex Luthor, back in Lex-corp, Sees the site on T.v. and pounds his desk in anger. That would have netted me 400 mill in insurance money, he growls.
