How would Tarantino's "Casino Royale" have turned out?

Says who? Craig's Bond is much closer to Ian Fleming's original creation than the CGI-filled Michael Bay-esque action movies of the late Brosnan era. Sounds like you haven't watched many Bond movies if you think that.

Not this crap again. Fleming's Bond is the one who battled a giant octopus. :yay:

I wouldn't have liked it, but then I'm no fan of Tarantino. I don't care how close it would have supposedly been to Fleming's literary Bond, his overbearing style would have ruined it for me. I don't watch his movies.

Glad he didn't do it. As it stands right now, I think Tarantino needs to do some original work that doesn't follow the same structure as his previous films.

Who would have thought we'd see a day where internet film buffs actually would ***** about a movie possibly having more dialogue driven scenes than action scenes?

In Live and Let Die?

It's not like it's a fictional creature.

Bond battled the giant squid in Doctor No (the book). Can't really comment on if it showed up in one of the movies though.

But they have been known to take devices from one book and put it in another movie, like the climax of LALD Bond is dragged behind a boat over corals getting cut and attacked by sharks, I'm pretty sure that scene showed up in another movie and LALD have an altogether different ending in the movie.

It's a Bond movie so it's not too surprising. The action scenes are exactly why I feel Quantum of Solace is underrated by a lot of folks. Casino Royale is definitely a better movie, but I found that I enjoyed Quantum quite a bit during repeat viewings of it.

First time I saw Quantum was in the theater and I was let down by it like a lot of people. But then I bought it on Blu-ray and it's really a great home theater experience all the way around. Great cinematography, gorgeous locations that show off the Blu-ray format, AWESOME surround sound (the best on Blu-ray that I've heard so far), good acting, fast pace, and lots of great action scenes. I find myself able to sit down and watch Quantum a lot easier than Casino because of the runtime issue, particularly during the week when I know I have to go to work the next day. 1 hour and 45 minutes is a lot easier to sit down and watch than 2 hours and 30 minues. Quantum is so action-packed that the time just flies right on by.

Wow, you are really missing out or you just don't get Tarantino.

I just don't like his work. Not for me. Everybody can't have the same taste you know.

I find Tarantino to be a horrendously overrated director so I would not be interested in seeing a bond film from him. I'm guessing it would be stupid.

That's fine and all, but he's one of the most unique writers/directors working today. He uses homages and cliches but manages to spin them around making them even better. It's all twisted in a Tarantino way.

A Tarantino movie would be many things, and not to all tastes, but one thing it would not be is stupid, he is a very smart filmaker and would take it seriously, while still having fun.

I believed Casino Royal to be one of the best movies of that year.
I don't know how it could have been any better. I'm glad it was made, its was fantastic.

Though with Quantum of Solace i didn't care it for as much.

Casino Royal/Golden eye/on her majesty's secret service are my favorite bond films.
Totally agree. Casino Royale was a fantastic film and a great restart for the Bon franchise. It was terrific. Quentin's movie would have probably been terrible compared to what we got so I don't even want to think about it.

Yeah, QoS I don't like too much either. He could have directed that.

lol, somehow I guess your critical analysis with this observation goes no further than 'I don't like Tarantino! I don't like Quantum of Solace! So, that's what a Tarantino Bond would be like!'
There is no overt similarity in styles there at all.
Take the opening car chase, absolutely crappy too-fast confusing cuts, a Bond opening that was too confusing to get into.
Now, take the car chases in Tarantino's Death Proof, absolutely edge of your seat stuff, all clearly shot and filmed old school, no modern crappy fast cuts.

I think Tarantino is intelligent enough than to not include his usual styles from his previous films. Like the homages and such. I think he would just make a great Bond film. I would be up for it still.

I'm glad he didn't do Casino Royale, since that's the only Bond film I really enjoy. But I wouldn't mind seeing him take a stab at it somewhere down the line.

He says he's happy at doing what he wants to do so I doubt it will happen. Besides he says he wants to write film theory novels and such when he stops directing.

I'm a fan of a few Bond films and Casino Royale's one of them. As much as I love Tarantino's work, I'm not too sure if I would have like his style for the film. I'll have to read up more on the subject before I make a final judgement.

*Notice how many times "I" was used. The lazy weekend writer in me loves to show off.:o

I actually just saw Pulp Fiction for the first time a couple weeks ago, and Jackie Brown just yesterday. I loved them both, excellent films, Tarantino has a great voice, and I've been a Bond fan all of my life anyway. I loved Casino Royale, Martin Campbell did a fantastic job with it, so I have no complaints there. I don't know if I can really see QT doing a Bond movie, but it would definitely be interesting. If he's gonna do an old-school spy flick, I'd rather it be Modesty Blaise, though.

Tarantino was attatched to a movie version of The Man from UNCLE a few years ago. Now that is way more his scene, with it's less serious attitude.

In Live and Let Die?

Dr No.

No, it's not (at least the Giant Squid, the Gigantic Octopus doesn't exist as far as we know today ;) ), but it doesn't change the fact that battling a gigant squid is totally larger-than-life and absolutely not realistic.

And that's why Craig=Fleming's Bond is nothing more than a marketing lie.

Hey I've learned that Tarantino was going to do Bond after Pulp Fiction and have Uma Thurman as Bond girl? That would not have been so bad.

I find Tarantino to be a horrendously overrated director so I would not be interested in seeing a bond film from him. I'm guessing it would be stupid.

I feel the exact same way, Tarantino takes a forgotten genre of film, then writes a movie about it, but makes sure that all his character act like they are the greatest thing to ever exsist. It always feels like he's compensating for being picked on in high school.

So because of one outlandish moment, you choose to ignore the fact that Fleming's Bond's personality, particularly as written in the Casino Royale novel (cold, calculating, kind of a bastard, not so much humor) but prevalent in most novels, is very much similar to Craig's Bond, without forgetting that what most, if not, all people mean when they say they're the same is because of how Bond is written as said cold killer instead of Roger Moore's one-liner machine? Got it.

Worst sentence ever? :csad:

Wow, I seriously cannot take "Tarantino is overrated" people seriously in any way, shape or form :csad:
