Something that someone suggested to me at work and I thought was interesting.

The Haitian doesn't actually dampen powers, that he's been there all along as a red herring. His only power may be to mindwipe people.

Claire's dad, HRG, might actually be the one who can neutralise people's powers.

When the FBI raided HRG's base, the cop couldn't hear his thoughts, however the Haitian was nowhere in site.

This is probably how he's going to survive or come up against Sylar in tonight's episode. I'd be interested to find if my co-worker's theory pans out.

(He also thinks HRG is actually Claire's real father but I don't buy that)

i think that theory is out the window with eden's capture/recruitment.

refresh me pls it's been weeks I can't remember

nevermind going to watch the episode online right now

Ok just watched it, there's no indication that the Haitian did anything. Again that could still be a "red herring". Sure he was there, but isn't he always there when HRG is around?

didn't Peter have contact with HRG after he saved Claire? he didn't absorb HRG's "power".

Peter can use people's powers as he is in contact with them, with the exception of Isaac's premonition, he's never been known to retain them.

Now, Peter absorbing HRG's powers while they're in contact would mean that he'd also be neutralizing HRG's abilities. While they're both doing it to each other, they'd inadvertently have a recursive loop when they'd be constantly trying to cancel each other's powers out which means that neither's powers are cancelled.

Unless, of course by HRG cancelling Peter's powers consciously, HRG prevents Peter from absorbing his abilities.

yeah HRG def. doesn't have a power and if he did it would ruin the show for me.

You know, I have thought of HRG actually having a power, and I think it would be quite awesome if he did...because in a recent promo I saw on Sci Fi Channel, it showed a part of Sylar and HRG's showdown (in tonight's episode I believe) with HRG (without the HRGs on) sitting down screaming at the top of his lungs and then Sylar waves his hand in the 'goodbye' signal. What power could it be? I have no idea, but that one little scene got me thinking...

SOOOOOOOO...it's very possible.

HRG doesn't have any powers. He's screaming because Sylar has locked him in the cage, and is saying he's going after Claire.

If HRG had powers, then Sylar would have sensed it, and tried to kill HRG.

I'd like to see HRG have powers, but it's very doubtful, and after the showdown with Sylar whereby Mr. Bennet basically gets a beatdown and Sylar leaves him in the dust so to speak, it's not likely he has any powers.

...that he is ready to reveal, at least.

HRG could have a great big power, and is just waiting for the right moment to reveal it. But, sadly I don't think so...we'll just have to wait and see.

Believe me, I wish you were right. I'd love to see HRG have some hella wicked power, but I don't think he has any. However, like you said, we'll just have to see what happens.

That's assuming Sylar can sense powers which is unlikely since he went for Jackie and not Claire, plus he went for Charlie instead of Hiro. He's been finding them from the list that he got from Suresh. There is no evidence that he can sense people with powers.

I've thought the same thing about HRG having an ability to negate others abilities. It's hard to say since it could be something he has or something the Haitian has. The only reason I thought it might be his ability was when he was talking to Matt and his partner. Matt tried to read his mind but couldn't, the haitian wasn't in the room, however he was in the hall outside...not a lot of evidence but makes ya think. (Of course that's given that I'm remembering the episode correctly.

I'm not sure how I would feel about him having powers, for me it's a wait and see, it depends on how they present it and work it into the storyline.

if he would, he might be a supervillain, i hate all these shades of grey, sure it makes for one hell of a show, but i want a supervillain

But seems HRG would use his powers to stop Sylar from going after Claire but he didn't so it seems he's human

well he did get sucker punched, he might have been too dazed or shocked to do anything.

Now something the invisible man said when he met Peter, "Oh you're one of those" made me think, and i know it's a long shot, maybe HRG is also an empath.
