I know all about PDAs and whatnot, but does anyone know of a simple handheld device that I can buy that can hold some type of word processing program (something like Microsoft Word) and that I can type and edit TXT or RTF documents using? It wouldn't even have to have a full gig of memory, just a few hundred KBs, with the ability to allow me to edit and create text documents.

those can....there are also small laptops you can buy to do it also...netbooks...
Frankly...price wise...you can get any decent netbook for the cost of a PDA or smartphone now.
