Some of you will remember that a few months ago I was begging for help in listing all of the "long-lost Amazon tribes" who have ever played a role in DC continuity.

A lot of helpful suggestions came in. And once I got going, I was able to dig up several more examples in addition to the ones other fans had already told me about.

Today the finished product is finally available online. It's probably the longest thing I've ever had posted as one big document. (I'd originally estimated I might end up discussing the distinguishing characteristics of, let's say, eight tribes -- but instead I had to examine twenty-six!)

Who knew there were so many obscure Amazonian cultures floating around in DC's continuity? (And I didn't even touch the subject of "Elseworlds variations of Wonder Woman and her people.")

So, if you want to learn just how often the idea of "let's create another Amazon tribe as a plot device!" has happened over the years, follow this link to see for yourself! Long-Lost Amazon Tribes

I knew that this kind of thing happened on occasion, especially in Pre-Crisis (the whole lost amazon tribe plot device for Wonder Woman), but didn't realize they're were so many. Cool stuff.

With DC, I kinda figured there would be 52.

That is pretty neat

I love all the Amazon supporting cast members that Wonder Woman used to have before Paradise Island was destroyed and the writers of her comic book decided to kill off her supporting cast every other month

I hope that we'll be seeing more of them and some of these lost tribes in the new Wonder Woman series starting soon I think there are probably lots of cool stories that could be told with them

One thing that really surprised me was that even on some good websites devoted to discussion of Wonder Woman and her published comic book stories, I couldn't find any sign that any diehard Wonder Woman fan had ever before tried to compile a list of all of DC's Amazon tribes.

Was I really the first person to think it might be a good idea? :whatever:

btw, my little post was just a dumb play on words I couldn't resist, I wasn't being sarcastic about what you did as if it was a waste of time, it's exactly the kind of geeky thing I would do for one of my particular fandoms.
