I am shaken to my core by this.

I will mention however that not much of Canada is actually French. That "shadows of their french cousins thing" doesnt really hold up.

The majority is English speaking... we just take French as our standard second language in school instead of Spanish like most of the States.
 
Oh, my friend, my friend. You may live there, but like someone who lives in an area, they never see it from the other perspective.

It holds PLENTY of water when on my THREE visits to Belleville, Ontario, Quebec City, and Edmonton, Alberta, were ALL met with people who tried to compete with a native French woman who was literally more French with freaking trivia games about our cultures. I know jack crap about most Canadian culture, of course I'm not going to qualify, and that somehow makes me LESS French? I'd go to a French themed restaurant, and have MY French corrected by them. French is my primary language. You cannot correct someone's language like that simply because they're not from around there, which I so generously pointed out.

If I walked into your home, and basically sat there (and this happened ALL over the place) telling you you could not speak English, your primary language, I'd just doubt you'd love me. Much less a whole country of me.

So what you feel, and what they did, are two VERY different things. It's like racism in America, some would swear they never see it ever in their entire lives, but it's alive and well everywhere.

I'll say it straight out, while I'm absolutely sure that the VAST majority of Canadians are decent, hard working people worthy of respect and praise, I simply do not like people (and it's just everybody I met, I'll admit I didn't meet absolutely everybody, and my exprience may have very well been localized) who are going to challenge me over dumb crap, then announce themselves winners of something they have hardly half a clue in.

Except for this one guy, he actually knew more about my home country than I did. But I'm pretty sure he was FROM France, seeing how he could easily speak in the northern AND southern French dialect differences.
 
Haha well you hate French-Canadians then. Thats no big deal... Everyone hates French-Canadians. They probably hate themselves.

And as far as them correcting your language... I've always viewed Canadian French and France-French as seperate since they are. Canadian French is divergent. Over the couple hundred years since their seperation some changes have developed thats not a surprise.

Arrogant of them to not recognise that though. Lol but that too is no surprise.
