Comics I'm curious-has nobody tried to compare Superman's fingerprints with Clark Kent's?

It just occurred to me that as Superman's costume doesn't cover his hands,(unlike the always security conscious Batman's!) it should be pretty easy to collect The Man Of Steel's prints, and if necessary compare them with Clark Kent's( visitors to and from the US are now routinely fingerprinted at American airports). Has NOBODY( presumably not even Lex Luthor!) thought of doing this???

How is that even possible?
According to Superman II, Lois's body should be covered with them :cwink:

One of the big things about the Clark Kent disguise is that so much of it is psychological. Even if they do look alike, if you went around trying to convince people that the guy who spent last week single-handedly fighting off an alien invasion and then beat a Greek God in an arm-wrestling match, is the same person as the guy from the office who can't get the coffee stain out of his tie, you'd sound completely insane.

As for why someone like Lois (who, in the Silver Age comics at least, had figured it out early on but could never prove it) never thought of using fingerprints, yeah, you've got me on that one.

Its simple.

You would have to get usable prints of Superman and usable prints of Clark. Clark would be simple enough. But superman tends to handles things in a way where he would probably smudge his prints. Then assuming Kryptonians finger prints are like ours. That chance of two people having the same finger prints only applies to human beings.

People wouldn't compare Superman's fingerprints to Kent's because people would assume Superman doesn't have another identity since he doesn't wear a mask and he doesn't act mysterious at all. He gives interviews and makes public speeches. So he doesn't appear to be hiding anything from the public.

Even though he wears glasses and stoops a tad, Clark Kent obviously looks like Superman, and a lot of people look like someone famous. Further throwing people off is how differently the Kent and Superman identities are viewed. Superman is the beloved hero, but Kent is despised.

I definitely prefer the comics etc. where Lois doesn't know of his secret identity.

The Kryptonians seems close enough to humans that the rule of thumb(nobody has the same fingerprints as another-not even identical twins)would apply.
Apropos of the physical resemblance between Clark Kent and his alter ego, true there is a resemblance but it's also been noted that Superman looks like many famous people-I once read a novel in which he recalled that that a woman told him that he looked like a young Gregory Peck and a comedian caused a stir when he noted that the Man of Steel and actor Charlie Sheen had NEVER been seen together( the world is full of "lookalikes" as well as namesakes- I used to know a woman whose blonde hair, green eyes and star sign(Pisces) reminded me of my favourite film star -Drew Barrymore). To conclude, if security was the main concern of Superman's he would not only wear gloves like Batman but also a mask like the Dark Knight- or maybe even invest in voice altering technology as Marvel's Iron Man does- as a prominent industrialist Tony Stark obviously gives public speeches-just as Iron man gives press conferences)

this is all assuming people even presume superman has a secret identity leading a double life.

Was fingerprint technology even that well-used during the 50s and 60s?
