If you are abit nickpicky about visuals, this is good program for improving shadows on games, partially older games that look outdated.
This is for Nvida cards only, as far as i'm aware it doesn't work for ATI.
This will force ambient occlusion which will improve the shadow quility adding shadows that were there to begin with. Some games already have a profile set, many don't and some don't allow the use of ambient occlusion without importing a profile.
This is an example of ambient occlusion on basic form.
1. Make sure you have the latest Nvida drivers
2. You will need Nvidia Inspector.

3. Install it, open it.
4. In profiles, type in "fallout 3" This will take you to fallout 3's profile.
Add the AA setting you want, and turn on ambient occlusion and set it to the quility you wish.
5. Click "Add Application to current file" at the top right, find the game install folder, and add the "game" exe file to the "fallout 3" profile. Apply, then close.
6. Start game up, done.
You can add multiple profiles. If a profile already exists, just delete it then import it to Fallout 3. The quility if the ambient occlusion can also be changed, the highest quility isn't a good idea unless you have a decent computer.
