Indie rocker Jay Reatard found dead.

Prolific indie rocker Jay Reatardhas died. The Web site of the musician's hometown paper, the Memphis Commercial Appeal , has reported that the 29-year-old musician, born Jay Lindsey, was found dead in his bed at around 3:30 a.m. this morning. According to the report, Memphis police are investigating.

Starting at the age of 15, Lindsey made his name playing in a number of bands, including the Lost Souls, the Bad Times, the Final Solutions, the Angry Angles, and the Reatards (the source of his stage moniker). He also started the Shattered Records label in 2004.

Cool guy, questionable name. RIP Jay.

well, before his solo career he had a band called 'the reatards'. everyone in the band took the title as their last name proudly. great band.

Jay Reatard was ****ing awesome. Some of the best rock music I've ever heard, catchy as hell and really fun. He was a killer song writer.

wow, apparently the the police are now investigating this as a homicide! thats crazy!

EDIT: apparently this may be false. but i talked to some friends of mine tonight who were hanging out with jay the other week and said he had been up 10 days straight on coke.
