Inevitable Bin Laden Films

So because one theory might be fake that means that all the others are fake too? :whatever:

No, because "theories" should be based on fact not paranoid prejudices with no evidence other than the ravings of nutjobs. And those "theories" I referenced are all offensive crackpot drivel.

If you think 9/11 is an inside job when we have countless footage of the airliners hitting the towers, the towers collapsing, Osama bin Laden gloating and celebrating with his subordinates the incident AND TAKING CREDIT FOR IT, as well as footage of the plane hitting the Pentagon and the countless cell phone calls and messages off of Flight 93....and you still think it was an inside job committed by a government that got caught invading Iraq under false pretenses (WMDs) and can't even hide Bill Clinton partying with an intern.....then you be a gullible nut with a tinfoil hat on.

No wonder America has the most puppet citizens in the world.

Those represented by the Greek government should not be casting stones.

The crazy land is this planet we are living in dude because of the politicians and the crimes they commit. Unless you don't have a clue what happens to the rest of the world and you trust only the news and the speeches from your president.

I like to live in reality where facts form ideas and understanding, not paranoid fantasies forming how I perceive the world. So yes, I do put more stock in what a president, who is commander-in-chief of the US military, says about what happened in Pakistan than some guy on an Internet message board who gets his info from another guy on the Drudge Report who is convinced there is a NWO and that Obama was born in Kenya. Sorry, but true.

I could go on and on on this subject but anyway. This is not leading anywhere. I just wanted to respond on the bold words only. Just because i am from Greece doesn't mean that i am represented from my government or that i have any respect for it. So your words are not relevant. See that's our difference. You feel obligated to put your trust on your President, while all of the world politicians are corrupted and commit crimes. We could live in a Star Trek world tomorrow, without wars, armies or control but you people keep breeding these old and corrupted structures and believing blindly in them.

I don't take the president's word as gospel. I did not vote for Bush and am well aware of how he misled the public to advance an unjust war. While I like Obama, I do not put blind trust in a politician.

However, I do not blame and condemn them for imaginary crimes that exist only in my head and have no basis in fact....that would be stupid. They need to be held accountable and constantly scrutinized, but that does not mean they should be blamed for every injustice in the world just because. That is not questioning authority; that is being a gullible crackpot who has either refuses to comprehend the complexity of our world or simply cannot try. They aren't enlightened, they're hilarious.

And you still haven't provided an ounce of proof or evidence of this conspiracy, by the way. You can't because there is none to justify this inane conversation.

Disney Trademarks bin Laden's Killers

By Garth Franklin Saturday May 14th 2011 03:41PM
Why do I picture Mickey Mouse as an Uzi-carrying soldier of fortune when I hear this story?
The Walt Disney Company has put in an application to trademark Seal Team Six, the covert team of Navy Seals behind the mission which lead to the death of Osama bin Laden earlier this month.
According to Media Bistro, the application was filed two days after bin Laden's death was announced and covers clothing, footwear, headwear, toys, games and entertainment and education services. Could the Mouse House be planning a franchise based on their exploits?
Whatever their plans it has nothing to do with Kathryn Bigelow's "Kill Bin Laden" project which Joel Edgerton signed for the other week.

Bin Laden should get a villain song like every other Disney bad guy.

You're missing a key point. In the Disney version, the Navy SEALs are actual seals. Bark bark!

The Bigelow/Bin Laden project is official and moving forward. http://www.aintitcool.com/node/49772

The film is set to released in the fourth quarter of 2012 . So, is this an Oscar bait movie? :awesome:

Anyway, from what I gather form the press release is that they drop the title Kill Bin Laden, but I find it weird that Edgerton isn't mention in the press release. Maybe it's because he was recently cast in The Great Gastby. Nevertheless, it should be interesting to see which actors Bigelow will cast in the movie.

Kathryn Bigelow's Next Gets a Release Date

July 28, 2011

Columbia Pictures has set Kathryn Bigelow's still-untitled next film to hit theaters on October 12, 2012.

The project, which reunites Bigelow with The Hurt Locker screenwriter Mark Boal, deals with a black ops SEAL team and was recently updated to include the successful operation that took down Osama bin Laden.

The film, said to feature a part for Joel Edgerton, is still casting and should enter production shortly.

Boal and Bigelow will produce the project, along with Annapurna Pictures' Megan Ellison, and executive producer Greg Shapiro.

Chris Pratt Up For Bigelow's Bin Laden Film

"Parks And Recreation" and "Moneyball" star Chris Pratt is in talks to play the lead role in Kathryn Bigelow's new untitled action drama about the hunt for Osama bin Laden reports Twitchfilm.
Bigelow and her "The Hurt Locker" writer Mark Boal were developing the project, then titled "Kill Bin Laden", when U.S. forces succeeded in killing the al-Qaeda leader. That lead to a massive leap in interest in the project, but also required extensive retooling of the script.
Earlier this year Joel Edgerton was attached but had to drop the film due to his schedule. Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce and Idris Elba have also been rumoured while Jason Clarke reportedly landed a supporting role in November.
Producers are now aiming to begin shooting in February

Kathryn Bigelow’s Bin Laden Movie Adding Jessica Chastain, Mark Strong And Edgar Ramirez To Killer Cast

EXCLUSIVE: While the Republicans keep kicking Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal’s Bin Laden movie around like a political football, Annapurna Pictures and Sony Pictures are ready to get the mission underway. I’m told that Jessica Chastain, Mark Strong and Edgar Ramirez are negotiating to join the previously discussed ensemble cast of Jason Clarke, Joel Edgerton and Chris Pratt.

They’ll star in a drama portraying Navy SEAL Team 6′s long hunt for the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. Osama Bin Laden was finally killed in a covert mission last year. Reports today assert that the Pentagon will investigate charges made by Rep Peter King that Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker tandem Bigelow and Boal somehow got inside information about the mission from the Obama Administration in preparing the script. This saber rattling hasn’t affected the film’s progress: the script is now finished and the film is going forward. Sony Pictures has dated the film for release on December 19, deliberately steering clear of the Presidential Elections.

The prospect of Chastain joining the Bin Laden film has cast doubt on whether she will star alongside Tom Cruise in Universal’s Oblivion, which shoots in March. They apparently are trying to work out dates, but two informed sources tell me it looks dicey at the moment that she’ll do Oblivion. Chastain, who today was announced as star of a revival of The Heiress on Broadway, last year starred in Tree of Life, The Help, Take Shelter and The Debt. Strong just starred in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and the upcoming John Carter while Ramirez starred in Carlos and The Bourne Ultimatum and next stars in Wrath of the Titans. All three are repped by CAA.

Joel Edgerton Officially Joins Kathryn Bigelow’s Untitled Hunt for Osama Bin Laden Drama

Joel Edgerton is in, again. After having been previously reported as the star of Kathryn Bigelow’s (The Hurt Locker) untitled hunt for Osama Bin Laden drama, the Warrior star was forced to withdraw from consideration after scheduling issues with the 300 prequel looked to prevent him from toplining the project. Now Variety reports that Edgerton has officially signed on to star in the pic, which centers on the Navy Seal team that tracked and eventually killed Bin Laden. We recently reported that Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) was in talks to topline the drama, but Variety’s new report makes no mention of the actor. It’s possible he was the second choice to Edgerton, and now that Edgerton’s scheduling issues have been cleared up (he passed on the 300 prequel) Pratt is out.

The script was written by Bigelow’s Hurt Locker scribe Mark Boal, and the only other actor officially signed on is Jason Clarke. Rooney Mara had been eyed to play a female reporter embedded with the Seal team, but her Girl with the Dragon Tattoo promotion schedule prevented her from joining the pic. Edgerton is currently filming The Great Gatsby. The untitled film (previously titled Kill Bin Laden) opens December 19th, 2012.

Glad that Edgerton is finally confirmed, and I hope that Chastain joins the film even if it means departing from Horizons. I'm so excited to see where this project is heading in terms of casting.

This just screams cash in to me. I have no interest in seeing this kind of film at all and just think it's uneccessary.

I'm kinda pissed that because of this, Triple Frontier was pushed back. That's the Bigelow project that I was looking forward to.

Yeah, that actually sounded interesting. "Oh, look we're going to make something dramatic because America loves stuff like this when we get the bad guy!" is the feeling I'm getting.

I'll watch it. It'll be an interesting time capsule in 20 years time to capture the zeigeist of America post Bin Laden.

It just isn't that important to be made into a dramatic feature length film. Bin Laden's death of course, is huge, but not "Base our movie around the hunt for Bin Laden" movie worthy.

It just doesn't gel with me at all.

Well said. Not to mention that there was far too many people involved in that moment. Lets say Joel Edgerton is playing the leader of ST6, realistically he should only be in the film for the last five minutes.

Although I have no desire to see a Bin Laden film, it's an interesting concept to see how a director would depict the man and legend. He was a hero and villain; and freedom fighter and father. Osama was far from the one-dimensional monster that the major media outlets represented him as in reality. Of course, it's always easier to deprive one of his or her own humanity to demonize/villainize. It's a much simpler transition.

To me though, it certainly has to go deeper than that. Things are never black and white, especially when arriving to topics such as religion, culture, beliefs, history, psychology, humanity, etc.

What Bin Laden did was indeed 'monstrous'. However, that does give anyone of us the right to deny him of his humanity for our sake. Osama was an individual who took the initiative for his agenda and/or fellow brethren and/or country.

Keep in mind, Americans celebrated his death as if it were a National holiday in the streets, and we cheered when our troops bombed Japan (killing hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and children in the process). So I ask you all of you who are against the depiction of Bin Laden as a man, are we truly any different than this mad-man at the end of the day?

Yes, but not different enough.
