I downloaded an app (TomTom US/MX/Can) and this morning I had an update for it, but it's for TomTom Europe and it tells me I need to buy the app. Any idea how to quit the update for an app I don't have? I would hit buy, but I don't want to pay $90 for an app I will never use.

This is the exact message I get
This discounted price is only available to customers who own a previous version of this item. To purchase this item at full price, click buy.

You have not owned a previous major version of this software. you would have to buy it at full price. Would you like to buy it?

I know it's for the TomTom Europe app which I know i didn't buy. Any idea how to get rid of the update and stop the red number 1 on my apps?

Have you downloaded this TomTom app via Installous or something?

yeah. I was shown Installous yesterday and have been playing around with it. Not sure how I feel about it though.

Yeah that's exactly why. I've got the same problem with around 127 of my apps. You can't update them unless you've bought them through the App Store sadly... but I think there's a little tweak on Cydia that removes the red badge on the icons.

One thing, you can check around on Installous for the updated version of whatever app, that'll remove the update message.

I'll look around. Thanks for the tip. I was searching online, but wasn't finding much at all.

Thieves...jk. Yeah TP is right, that's how it works, the Apple App store is smart enough to know that you don't have a legit version.
