I believe it got released this last Tuesday, so I'm wondering if I should pick it up. I already own the graphic novel and I love it. I read it a couple of years back and then I read it again a second time before going to see the movie.

Also, any word about whether the motion comic will be released with the movie as a special edition? There's no point in buying the same thing twice...

Thanks. :)

I was wondering that myself.. I saw it today at HMV .. I figure with this movie that there'll be some boxset that'll have this, the black freighter and a director-director's cut of the movie so I'd say prolly wait

according to what I read, it's not !!!

It's an animated version of the graphic novel.

It works.

i bought it for my blu ray...i love watching it...but theres not much to it

what was it like hearing a man do the voice of a women in a sex scene?

It's not that bad. If you're immature, you probably won't get over the fact that it's one man doing the voice of every character including women.

I really liked the motion comic. I don't recommend buying it right now (with the ridiculous price its at) but there are ways to view it at a lower price :ninja:

well a friend of mine bought it, and im probably going to buy the black freighter. I will not be picking this up.

yeah...the price is rediculous!!!
reason i got it is because i has a 20 dollar gift card...got lucky

its not about being immature...its actually pretty awful...his line deliveries are bad as well...
Using the comic and animating it is interesting but the voice actor ruins this concept.

this is Ridiculous....why didn't they just hire a cast of voice actors?

i'm watching it right now, borrowed it, glad i didn't waste the cash on it...

its funny in a bad way....people have been laughing at the new movie and a man doing a voice of women in an animated feature...its like this Watchmen has been turned into a really BAD JOKE. and that's the whole premise. Ironic.

UPDATE...

OK i'm a little over half way through this thing, when the good thing about it is, if you don't like the voice actor you can just turn the sound off and read the thought bubbles, which i've been doing during the sex scenes and most of the female dialogue scenes...
i like this a hell of a lot more than the movie! theirs an actual score, the direction is better....
this feels more like a movie to me than the actual movie was...it just flows better, the characters have depth, they actually have expressions...the people in the movie were dead mannequins...and these are drawings lifted from the actual comic book, they have more life then there real counter parts...

but yeah this is worth a watch, if you don't want to hear the bad voice acting turn it off and read away.

One actor does all the voices, what the hell is up with that? I remember the old Voltron cartoon in which the male actors would also voice the minor female characters.

I agree.
They could have simply hired one female to do all the female voiceovers. I mean, it was $20 after all (more than a new release movie) and you know it cost a lot less to produce this.

it is worth buying it, without a doubt
for those that havent read the GN go pick this dvd/blu-ray

For me it was a no brainer.
I wanted it on Blu-Ray.
It included a free movie ticket for Watchmen.
It is of very high quality.
I can't be 100% but it uses the Absolute color which looks amazing.
It is not just filmed page, many of the images are slightly animated to add to the experience.
The soundtrack is top notch.
They mix up some of panels so it may be interesting to someone who has read the GN many times.
I'm not 100% certain but I think some panels have been cut while others are expanded (if that makes sense).
I thought the voice actor was great for what was asked. If you heard audiobooks, it is a very similar effect. After awhile, I never even notice the female lines.
Much more advanced then some of the Hulk comics on DVDs that I have.
Since it was a full price product, I would have loved a little more extras.
How about a trivia commentary/annotation by some Watchmen experts.
A making of, etc.

the voice actor made Rorschack sound like a caveman, Spector a transexual...haha...like it made it seem like you were watching a man in drag you cant get the voice to fit the character....

i say someone should re edit it with people who know the characters....not one guy...he didn't do a good job with the acting i don't think at all..

I may just end up renting this instead, since it's priced at $29.99 (Canadian) to buy at the moment.

I was thinking of showing this to someone who hasn't read the graphic novel yet, and were plenty confused after watching the live action movie. I recommended that they read the graphic novel, but it doesn't look like it'll happen, lol, so I'll probably just use this as an alternative for them.

It's really well done.

I would have liked to see them at least get a woman for the female voices.

But once you get used to one person doing the voices it's pretty awesome. I think it was worth it.

Just finished watching it. Overall, I think it's worth it (especially if you weren't very satisfied with the live action film).

I almost got teary-eyed at the end of the motion comic, which is something that the movie failed to do. I can't put my finger on it, but the movie just couldn't pull the same emotional reaction from me. I don't hate the movie though ... I just think the graphic novel is so much better.

SPOILER: [blackout]Also, after watching the motion comic, it makes me hate the movie's ending even more. I'm still convinced that the squid would have worked marvelously in the movie. The way the motion comic handled it was amazing. Seeing all of those bloody corpses while hearing the clock's bells. Very chilling. Very emotional.[/blackout]

I agree completely with this.
