J.R.R. Tolkien biopic

I mean there are some guys in the industry you pretty much expect to be contrarian to the unwashed masses regarding movie taste.

I saw this movie. My thoughts: meh. It felt like they didn't have enough movie to justify the run time it has, so they padded the heck out of what they did. I wish they would have cut 15 minutes out of the movie and replaced that with maybe 15 mins of him showing his first draft of The Hobbit to someone. Maybe done more with his one friend that lived through the war as well briefly (even 1 scene to cap that off would have done it for me). But as it stands, performances are fine, art direction is fine, etc. Everything in this movie is just kind of...fine. Nothing really stands out. It's sort of bland.

Shame this sounds so uninspired. I was interested in checking it out, but now I'll probably wait until it shows up on Netflix or HBO.
