I thought Salvation was better, but that is like saying I like my toes being crushed by a hammer more than my toes and fingers being crushed by a hammer.

I think I've never seen Salvation in it's entirety. It feels so disconnected with the Terminator series as a whole that I could never finish it. I don't like the director or Sam Worthington either.

Salvation's pretty much just a Bay movie with a couple of T-800s. It barely even feels like a Terminator flick, just interchangable with every other tech-y action movie out there.

Yelchin's Biehn impression is goddamn fantastic, though. Only positive about the whole thing really.

I was intrigued by the cast and crew and now these pictures have my attention. Still not getting my hopes up but I'm definitely curious now.

I face it for the first time with a sense of hope.

Linda looks great!

Genysis is far worse than Salvation, neither is a great film, but Salvation is way beyond the quality of Genysis for me.

I find Salvation at least watchable for the most part but find Genisys just a disaster. It's the only Terminator movie I just can't tolerate.

The main thing I remember is the drone chasing Yelchin. He was good and the most memorable to me.

I don’t understand the Salvation hate. I found it to be an entertaining film. Bale was engaging as always. And it got us out of the formula... where evil terminator comes back in time to kill; hero comes back in time to save, with an uncertain victory at the end. Salvation was the only film brave enough to take the franchise to new places.

Genisys and terminator 3, on the other hand, are both complete garbage. Uninspired remakes.. foolhardy efforts to recapture the magic of T2 by essentially remaking the story with slight variations.

In terms of this new film, those set images are certainly exciting. It’s great to see Linda Hamilton back in the mix. It’s long past time to recast Arnold though. It doesn’t make much sense to have a 60 year old terminator. Let him go for the good of the franchise. As always with these terminator movies... I’m skeptical but really hopeful. T2 is one of my favorite movies of all time. It’d be awesome to see a worthy successor.

I think the biggest problem with Salvation was Marcus, the human Terminator stuff, Helena Bonham Carter being the face of Skynet.

Like they rewrote the script, but they didn't rewrite it enough. They needed to dump the Marcus character and that whole subplot.

I don't like Salavation, but I can at least appreciate the effort of being different and trying to set a new course instead if the usual time travelling ****. I thought focusing on the war of the machines was the best course to chart.

Yes. I've said this before in one of these forums. I don't particularly like Salvation, but I do appreciate that it tried to do something different with the material. It doesn't work for me, but they tried.

Salvation doesn't go far enough. In Terminator and Terminator 2, the humans are scurrying around underfoot like desperate rats. In Salvation they're flying around in helicopters, with freaking bases right out in the open, like a conventional war movie.

I don't think any of us who are 'pro Salvation' in this v Genysis discussion are saying it's a 'good' film, only that it's better than Genysis.

Salvation is a lousy film for many reasons, one that you point out, the appalling editing helps with this as well.

Genisys had potentially good ideas in the first half, but they went completely off the rails in the second one.
I was more interested in Arnold taking care of a young Sarah, from that small flashback. Something different there, in another decade.
The problem for me is that the future is never the interesting part. That apocalyptic future should remain a mystery, leave it to the imagination from the small bits we know.

People were excited for Salvation before it came out...It thought the film was ok.

I give some of the story decisions a pass since Salvation was focused on the early part of the war where the military was still intact somewhat and machines were also still scrambling to take control, constantly building and upgrading.

Yeah I always thought Salvation made some interesting choices, even if it wasn't a perfect movie. I liked the aesthetic a lot and I felt it was a good way of showing how different things were early in the future war vs. the later stuff we saw in T1.

But yeah, I wouldn't say it was all that good. Yelchin was great though. As always.

This, the fact that it tried to be different and just dropped the ball on so much is why it was so disappointing. Yelchin was great, and I am one of the few who liked Marcus. But everything else was a let down.

The T-800 at the end was far too powerful as well.

I've been thinking about this taking place in Mexico and the idea of Gabriel Luna as the Terminator is genius. Not in a racist way, obviously, just it clicked with me that SKYNET are more than likely sending this model to blend in with it's surroundings.

I wonder what he'll be wearing since Arnie seems to have dabs on the whole ''black leather'' get up.

Iv had the idea that perhaps Garbiel Lunas Terminator will be related in some way to Dani and her brother, at one point during the creative process of T2 James Cameron considered getting Michael Biehn back to play the T1000 but eventually decided against it.

Really glad that didn’t happen

Well similar to the Kyle Reese is the T1000 idea perhaps his outer skin is based on a family member or a loved one of Dani and her brother that Skynet chose as a bit of psychological warfare to really mess with their heads.

I don't particularly think this is a great idea by any means, just thinking out loud and knowing J.C was in the writers room at some point perhaps he brought in some left over ideas that he re worked.
