James Cameron To 'Godfather' New Terminator Film

I think that Cameron has pretty much said all that he has to say in the Terminator franchise after the first two. It's why T2 has a pretty closed ending, and why Cameron told Arnold "it's as much your franchise as it is mine" when T3 came along.

Now my guess for him is that it's about helping his friend with his take on the franchise.

There wasn't even anything left to say after the first film. T2 is essentially a big-budget action remake. A lot of the elements in T2 Cameron wanted for the first film but the technology just wasn't available.

It's Mackenzie Davis who's playing a human solider/assassin (Possibly from the future but it hasn't been verified).

Just going by those marks, I feel like Skynet may have captured and experimented on her in some way.

Such a terrible idea. Presumably, its only reason to exist will be as an excuse to give us a 'badass' lead who can do some superhero style stuff.

I know this is a direct sequel to T2, but do we know when this movie takes place? Linda Hamilton looks like her actual age, but John Conner is suppose to be a teenager still??

I'm still looking forward to this but that picture is awful. You'd think the filmmakers would want to make a better first impression than that after the damage Genisys did to the brand.

I'm not saying she has super-tech implanted in her (and I really hope she doesn't, I didn't like that in T:S either), just that maybe part of her backstory can be that she was literally torn apart by Skynet while it was trying to learn how humans worked (in the course of creating infiltration units, giving Terminators detailed files etc).

Think of her as a Josef Mengel survivor.

I had to Google that name, I am glad I didn't guess the gender lol. So where does Arnie fit into this then?

She's the same actress who played the NASA tech in The Martian (with Matt Damon). I had to look her up too. Completely different role, that's for sure.

She was also great in the AMC series Halt and Catch Fire.

She is also great in Black Mirror's San Junipero episode.

And she's great in Tully and Blade Runner 2049.

Yeah, as soon as I Googled I could see but the look in the image is very androgynous, not sure if that's on purpose or just the image.

This was the image that came straight up and the penny dropped lol. I can't remember her from the Martian but in truth I can only really remember Damon from that film.

Seems to be the look they're going with for the hair and beard--

So good I'm finally getting a sequel thats in tone with the first. T3 was ok but its very campy.
This new film has direct input from James Cameron and will star Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The movie will pass the torch to the next generation. I'm ok with that as long as the movie wraps up Sarah Connor's fight with Skynet and is a satisfying continuation from T1/2 and gives Arnold a great exit as the T-800 Terminator.

Heck yes! So glad they went with the beard.

Meh. Arnie hasn't been intimidating since T2. He's to old now. Is he in great shape for an old man? Absolutely and hats off to him still looking after himself. Better man than me. However he still looks like an old man. No amount of CGI can help him. He looked rediculous as T2's T800 in the 80s parts of Gensys. You could just tell he was an old man with CGI on his face to cover the wrinkles lol. It's over dude, let it go.

It just really doesnt matter. If the movie sucks I can move on get on with my life on the other hand if its good I have a film I can enjoy.

All the films since T2 have been pointless, and this latest reboot/continuation by Cameron will be no different.

Terminator needs one of two things:

  • A complete reboot
  • To be left the hell alone

Option 3: Continuation of Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Afaik, he will be playing his own age in this film. His terminator either ages, or he is playing the human that the T800 was modeled after. So cgi deaging shouldnt be required at all in this film.
