Justice League Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor

I'm still hoping that its him that was seen talking to Deathstroke in that storyboard.

I like Mark Waid but I think he's lacking some introspection in this matter.

Lex in the movie was nothing like Lenny Luthor, so his judgement is suspect.

Agreed. I also personally think his judgement to be clouded as to whether or not Jesse's Lex was based on the version as featured in Birthright. Putting aside the differences in physicality, height and what the reader most probably imagines Luthor's voice to sound like, the personality imbued within the Birthright Luthor was clearly the foundation for the character as portrayed in BvS, in my humble opinion.

Mark Waid. Great comic book writer; twittersphere *****e.

There's a reason he's like the only guy ever not to get shout out by Zack Attack.

He is a great writer, Kingdom Come and Superman Birthright are my two favourite Superman stories of all time but he seems like such a *****e. He's one of those typical people that if it isn't his way it's not the right way.

He was a complete twonk during the Byrne era refusing to go along with the new continuity aswell.

I also think it's funny how much Mark didn't like Superman being mopey in the movies when Kingdom Come Superman was three times as depressed.

:funny: too true, love that story though.

Although from an interview I read he said that was more Alex Ross choice but still he went along with it didn't he?

It's surprising if the artist had THAT much control over the story.

I love Kingdom Come too, it's one of my favorite comic stories.

But goddamn, if they made it into a live action movie all the DC fans would cry about how dark and depressing it is. Kingdom Come is literally more dark than BvS and ends on a very slight hopeful note, but its still one of the most praised comic book stories of all time. Go figure.

Still holding out hope that one day Jesse buffs up for the role

That would be awesome and hilarious at the same time. Bald ripped Jesse Eisenberg. Lol.

They literally admitted their inspiration was Birthright Author.

Lex's physical fraility adds to his persona, it's needed in the milennial CEO

Not being a comic reader I absolutely loved Lex in BVS. I liked his motivations. He outsmarted batman. Carried out a master plan that almost worked until he got out of control with Doomsday because he just can't accept losing.

Agreed. What would be the point in him being a physical specimen like Bruce, or Clark? He can't physically compete with either of them. I thought it made sense, and also in turn made Lex insanely creepy. Highlighted his intelligence even more.

Watching that behind the scenes feature...the casting was wrong to begin with, but they miss the essence of the character, this version of Lex Luthor thinks he's saving humanity from Superman and that sucks.

For me, it's always been that Lex's point of view is, you (Superman) want to save humanity and I want to save humanity...(or...just 'this is my city, and I deserve the credit, not you') one of us has to go.

Moreover, it's about Lex Luthor hating Superman because he desires his power. They've made this too complicated.

Maybe they made him too smart. I just wish they didn't take it too far where he actually had Martha kidnapped.

I don't know what it's going to look like for them when they're on the screen together again.

The chemistry, if you will, between Superman and Lex will feel so different when they are confronting each other. Superman will probably hate Luthor more than he has in any previous incarnation, as this Lex actually kidnapped his mother and threatened to kill her. I mean Superman will look at this guy as more of a crazy clown (honestly, he seems crazier than the Joker) psychopath lunatic.

It's hard to describe what Lex is, it can be argued that he is crazy, but Eisenberg's portrayal is more like batsh** crazy unlike the actual character. Dangerous? Eisenberg's Lex had that, yet still somehow seemed wrong. Eisenberg's age, his physique was all wrong.

His personality was the biggest problem though. Jokerish. He's like a villain from the TV series, Gotham, who under the right influence, could take a turning point, and maybe form into a crazier villain.

Even if he does start acting like the Lex we know from comics, into a more, serious and sane version, Eisenberg will still be considered miscast due to his kid-voice and height.

Supes still saved his life. Thats Superman for you.

Eisenberg's age, his physique was all wrong.

Luthor in comics has had normal physique and same age as Superman before. Hell he had that in Birthright, which was considered the goto Superman origin story for years.

I dunno man, it seemed pretty classic Superman/Lex in the scout ship. "You've lost" "I don't know how to lose" "you'll learn"

"Lenny Luthor" huh, LOL yeah I have to agree with Waid on that one! For me Lex in BvS was a parody and a bad one at that.
