Justice League Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor

latest

I miss Aussie 90's Lex II (I).

The Matrix Supergirl was weird, and baroque, but they did a bunch of interesting things with her. Not too bad for someone who only existed as a way to get around editorial mandates.

I remember hearing about "Matrix Supergirl", although I have no idea what that means....

And Lex was aussie??! Whaaaaaaa....??!

Lex Luthor created a younger clone and transferred his mind to that body then masqueraded as his own son (who was from Australia and had a flaming mane of Bright Red Hair) pretending to be a good guy to the whole world and got the Matrix Supergirl on his side and was even dating her. The Matrix Supergirl came from a pocket dimension/alternate timeline where Superboy had died and Lex Luthor was a hero who made a protoplasmic entity called Matrix that could shapeshift and had similar powers to Superman. When the time came to protect their Earth from 3 escaped phantom Zone Kryptonian criminals: Zod, Faora, and Quex-Ul; and Matrix wasn't enough Luthor sent her to the prime/post-crisis universe to recruit help who then brought the mainstream comics post-crisis Superman across where he defeated them but not before they murdered the entire population of the planet, so seeing as their was no one left to judge them on their crimes Superman decided that the duty fell onto him so he exposed them to gold kryptonite taking away their powers, then exposed them to green killing them (this led to a whole arc where he had so much guilt he developed a split personality called gangbuster and then when he realized this he exiled himself from the planet into space for a time where they used this to power him up from his Byrne power levels by having him train with Mongul Jr.). So with the only surviving member of that world being Matrix, Superman took her back to his where she took up the mantle of supergirl and went by the name Linda Danvers and took up the traditional Supergirl appearance.

Well, thanks TheRedWraith, thanks very much.

I'm off to find some aspirin.

Just performing my public duty :oldrazz:, but yeah, comics can get very complicated to the point of being ridiculously overcomplicated when an easier simpler answer would do.

Thanks Red! I think I've actually read about most of this stuff (didn't read the comics, just read about the stories) but I had forgotten...

Also: God, I love the 90s....

:lmao:

I personally have never read them either, I just ended up memorizing things like that just from reading their DC Wikipedias.

Same here; personally I consider myself a little bit of a DC encyclopedia but mostly is from reading ABOUT the comics rather than actually reading them, since I couldn't really find/afford them growing up, and now I rather buy modern comics since I feel the writing is way more sophisticated (a lot less exposition and long speeches).

By the poster Indy1Jones who post's on here. Thought this deserves to be seen by all. :awesome:

I loved Jesse as Lex but looking back I'd have had a solo Superman sequel (and a Batman solo) prior to BvS. In the Supes sequel I'd have had Lex Snr and Lex Jnr. Lex Snr would have been more like the corporate Lex with Lex Jnr more the mad scientist. I'd have had Lex Snr die at the end of Supes sequel and had Lex Jnr then start his plans that he would put into action in BvS.

I'd rather Lex, Jr. become Lex, Sr. over time. He drops the t-shirts and sneakers over time. And he slowly sheds his neurotic persona for something more composed and controlled. Under that veneer of calm is still that manipulative puppeteer. And eventually, after the dust settles Superman begins to have a positive effect on him. Not quite like Rebirth where he suits up to fight bad guys for glory and love of the people. But he actually begins using his fortune for honest philanthropy rather than scheming up ways to kill or control Superman.

That's how I'd develop Luthor over time.

Hmm, I would like something like that as well. Thats the natural progression too, one would argue.

I don't think we will see Jesse again until at least Justice League Part II if anything

He has been confirmed to return in JL1. Probably a very small role, though.

I believe Jesse filmed some scenes for JL last August.

Then Lex most likely will either be released from prison or he will escape somehow

Lex overrode the scout ship AI. If it's what both the team and Apokalips are after, then I think it is possible Lex could have a bigger part than just a cameo. Maybe?

I never knew the story of how he became that red headed Luthor, but the main reason I remember him dating the Supergirl was because of my Return Of Superman TPB I had as a kid. What a great story. I probably haven't read it since I was like 12 (18 years ago) but I remember it well because I read it several times. For some reason one of the main parts I remember is Supergirl flying above Superboy and he turns around, eye level with her chest, and says "I was chest choking.. Er.. I mean JUST JOKING!" Lol, Idk why that stick in my head.

Are we going to see Eisenlex in the JL film?

One of the castings that I'm not crazy about, just feel like Luthor could've been a little better, but maybe the more matured, bald Lex will change my mind. There were things I enjoyed in his portrayal, and little sociopathic nuances he bought to the role that I appreciated, like his subtle change in demeanor when she tells him they are blocking his import license on the Kryptonite, or the little flinch when she touches his hand, like he had to restrain himself before beating her to death right there, or the little smirk when she makes the comment about Granny's Peach Tea, like he was thinking "Oh, you're going to regret saying that."

So, it's similar to Leto's Joker, with the right script I feel like there's a lot of potential for improvement
