Jessica Simpson has been tipped to star in a remake of Californian beach drama Baywatch.

A source told a newspaper: "Jessica really caught the eye in The Dukes of Hazzard film last summer. She was the unanimous choice for the Baywatch role."

Jessica, 25, will reportedly play a heroic lifeguard on Venice Beach, California and is expected to take up Pamela Anderson's legacy.

The source added: "Jessica has all the assets to make Pammi's part her own."

Producers also hope David Hasselhoff, 53, who played Lt Mitch Buchannon, will be interested in the remake if Jessica joins the cast.

Finally a role for which she was born to play.

Well you do need something to float on..if there is trouble.

Well I wasn't even aware there WAS a Baywatch movie already.
And why can't Pam Anderson return? She still has it. And an even better question...who the **** wants to see this??? :down

Jessica cannot begin to compare to the might of Pam Anderson

They said it's going to be somewhat tongue in cheek, not played seriously. If that's the case, then hells yeah I will go see it.

But the reason Baywatch was so great was because it tried so hard to be serious.:(

Yeah, if they're playing it for laughs, it might as well be Son of the Beach: The Movie.

Exactly, it was only later on in the series when they went the slapstick route.

Will Jessica need to work on her Oscar speech for this role? :p

uh... people with penises want to see it.

Are there even any popular young actresses out there currently that have breasts as big as Pam Anderson, though? I never thought I'd see the day that immense **** would go the way of the dinosaur. Now everyone wants to look like boys. :(
