Oh my gosh, I've been hoping they'd make a half-life movie for forever. This is fantastic.

Just get on with the 3rd game already while you're at it, Valve...

And so the homogenization of geek culture continues.

Just hope he doesn't burn himself out. He's got a lot on his plate already.

Half-Life would be amazing, still my favorite game of all time. (the original)

Like this quote from JJ in that article. Just for his going forward with Episode VII it gives me more confidence.

"If you don’t care about the characters, nothing matters. No space ship, no explosion, no anything is important if you don’t feel something for the people involved."

I hope they get Dan Trachtenberg to direct.

A Half-Life movie could be really creepy. If they play their cards right this could be the next Alien franchise.

A Half-Life movie? Hell yeah! I've been waiting years for an adaptation.

I'd rather have the games than films. Then again, more G-Man in any medium is golden.

^You thought they were just gonna let this franchise sit and rot?

Wow, JJ Abrams is really seeing to become the king of nerdom!

The original Half-Life and its expansions are my favorite video games of all time. And I'm more of a console guy than PC. Never has anything equaled the joy I had playing Half-Life for the first time!

Between this and the Ubisoft adaptations, I can smell a revolution in the video game film genre. But you'll need support like JJ or Ubisoft unless you're all happy with Fox's reboot of Hitman with Paul Walker.

I'd like to see someone like David Cronenberg direct one of these flicks.

Interesting. So Gabe Newell will make games based on Bad Robot's properties?

I can't really think of any that would make great games. Star Trek is one but that's being handled elsewhere. Fringe could be interesting.

A Portal game would be amazing! Kat Dennings for Chell please!

I suppose they have to. Fanboys are a huge demographic for major $$$$ in film and all the comic book rights for everything have just about been sold.

Freeman is such a blank slate that in the construction of him as a film character it really wouldn't matter.

Yeah, you can't really say "this actor captures Gordon Freeman" because there IS no Gordon Freeman personality wise. I always felt he was kind of on the sarcastic engineer nerd side and hated being thrust into the crap going on, yet very earnest from pictures of what he looks like.
