Remember Saturday Nights on TNT? Joe Bob Briggs hosting MonsterVision? He was WAY better than Rhonda Shear on USA Up All Night! He'd go through a chart of the gory effects, boobs, and other trivia before the movie, and then slash them out because the movies were edited for TV??

He even had a cameo in Casino! Man, what a late night cable folk hero! :wow:

Monster Vision was awesome

I loved MonsterVision, I used to try and stay up and watch it as a kid, though most of the time I'd fall asleep and have weird dreams. It sucks how it just kind of dissapeared.

EDIT: Out of curiosity I looked up MonsterVision on Wikipedia and found this:

Since the cancellation, Briggs has remained an active speaker and writer, and has contributed commentary tracks to several DVDs. [13] Briggs is planning on hosting a similar program on the yet-to-be-launched network HorrorNet. [14] [15]

I gotta find those DVDs and order the HorrorNet now. :o

Horrornet sucks. It plays the same 6 shows in a loop all day with a movie thrown in between.

Or maybe I'm thinking of Chiller. I dunno, one of the horror movie networks.

I love Joe Bob! His commentary on the movies were classic, & the horror was some good cheese.

And remember how he'd always be drinking beer on his trailer soundstage (BEFORE Stone Cold Steve Austin!), and he'd make the wise cracks, and you could hear the sound crew laughing in the background! :woot:

Heck he would even talk to the crew behind the camera Talk Soup style.

I absolutely loved Monstervision with Joe Bob Briggs.

I found his commentary very humorous on the films that played during his time on TNT, and loved the feeling of the show (though im sure that wasnt always the case) basically being played on the fly, or winging it. It just made it so much more enjoyable to watch. Not really knowing what kind of wisecracks Joe Bob was going to make on whatever topic. The Monstervision Mailgirl segment was pretty cool as well. I know I have Joe Bob's Friday the 13th Marathon on Monstervision, and the time Roddy Piper co-hosted They Live on tape somewhere ....

But yeah, it was great while it lasted. Sure wish it was still on.

Last thing I saw him in was Face/Off.

That's right! The surgeon, right?

I wonder if Nic Cage or John Woo was a fan of his? Cage is a weirdo, so I'm sure there's a connection in there somewhere.

Man, I wish TNT would there were archival footage of MV available to watch! :csad: I tried to find some yesterday, but they were all "expired" clips??

:wow: :wow: :wow:

I wanna see that F13 Marathon! ...I remember taping that They Lives when Piper was on there

I'm sure it's long gone now.

Loved MonsterVision why aren't there any good shows like this on tv anymore? Speaking of Rhonda Shear & USA UP ALL NIGHT, she was great to look at & other things came to mind when watching her.:D Even if the movies weren't entertaining I would still watch USA UP ALL NIGHT just for her.

Me too.

....But it killed my adolescent erection when Gilbert Gottfried was on there with her. :(

oh yeah i miss this...rhonda shear was awsome...with those big ole boobies

"now let's get back to bikini car wash 2 on usa UP...all night."

...

Rhonda was cool as well.

I dont miss the guy who voiced Mr. Mxy for the Superman animated series much though. :o

Gilbert Gottfried. He's hard to handle.
I first saw Gilbert Gottfried in character called "The Love Man" while hosting a Toxic Avenger marathon, I didn't then realize that the whole love man was a schtick and his voice is really annoying.

^^ Exactly where I went when I noticed Monstervision wasnt on TNT anymore!!!
