Joker throwing paint over works of art?

If memory serves, The Penguin also took remote control of the Batmobile and ran for Mayor of Gotham in the 60's series. It's funny how at the time of Batman '89's release, it was considered so dark and "worlds apart" from the Adam West days (I clearly recall some members of the general public - the non-fanboys & girls - being taken aback by 89; commenting that the new Joker was "scary" and wondering why the classic 60's Batman theme wasn't reused!).

Now, nearly 20 years later and in the wake of Batman Begins, both seem rather quaint. Though I still enjoy them all.

Batman was done in 1939 as a comic book! lol

In fact they're tremendously different. It's not the idea but the way it's done. That's why Batman remains the same in the idea but can be done ala campy or ala dark.

C'mon, Batman & BR are much darker than BB. BB is merely an action movie.

Let's just say you are right there, for a second, and the Burton movies are darker than Begins...how does that make them better?

Spawn is darker than Batman Begins. Doesn't help it in any way.

And, Burgess Meredith ran for mayor before Danny DeVito. :o

And, Jack Nicholson tried to gas Gotham beforee Liam Nesson.
And, Tobey McGuire tapped his childhood sweetheart before Bale.

:o :o

I wish we had a good dvd release of these series.

Burtons movies are darker but they are also enjoyable movies. BB tries so hard to be a indie/action movie/intellectual movie it totally forgets to make it enjoyale to the viewer IMO.

I haven't watched Batman Begins since July of last year. I just can't sit through the whole thing, it bores me to death. And Damien Dark, you couldn't be anymore correct.

I absolutely love the museum scene. Very bold on Joker's part. That's why I loved Nicholson's Joker. Smart, savvy, artistic, His love of what he believes is art and his flamboyant ways.
