This movie was a huge letdown. I loved thank you for smoking and thought this would be better sadly it wasn't. The directing and acting was top-notch. The script was horrible though. At first the lines were cute. They were hip and cool. Then after everyone started doing it then it lost me. I was competely taken out of the movie. All the funny jokes I already got to see in the trailer I really hate it when that happens. Also I didn't think the movie was cute. Maybe its because i've never had a girlfriend and never cared for anyone that got me. All in all a let down. This happens to me all the time with popular movies. I can tell this movie will be huge with girls, indie kids, and hippies. They'll eat it up.

You're just the first person I've heard of that really didn't like the movie.

I understand though

Yeah Im the first of anyone I know to. I blame my reaction to the film on the fact I don't have a girlfriend, and that the lines got annoying.

I don't have a girlfriend either, and yea the "dudes" and all that got a little annoying after a while... but I still enjoyed the hell out of it.

Yeah the soundtrack is pretty good. But a lot of the bands mentioned in the film are awesome too. The Melvins and Iggy and The Stooges for example.

I can't remember, who's gore films were they watching again?

Anyone else think Diablo Cody is uber cute?

Ah I remember. They were watching "The Wizard of Gore."

Herschell Gordon Lewis

I might have spelled it wrong, but he usually just goes by H.G. Lewis.

Yeah, thanks. I remember now. I've actually seen that particular film shown in Juno.

Great little movie. I wouldn't call it the best movie of the year, like many are hyping it as. But it is amazingly warm, genuine and the characters feel real, as does the story. I do think it is a little ridiculous how everyone in Juno's family and a few random people on the streets talk with that sardonic sassy pluckiness, exactly like Juno...I think the writer overused it, but hey no one complains that everyone in Woody Allen and Kevin Smith movies talk exactly like their writer(s). So, I look past that and it really just had a lot of spunk and I think ellen Page was REALLY good. Allison Janney stole the show, JK Simmons was as good as usual and Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman really brought it home, with two potential cliches and made them feel real and empathetic (and creepy in Bateman's case). A strong second picture for Reitman. I think Thank You for Smoking was a wee bit better, but this is probably the best comedy I've seen this year (and there have been quite a few good ones with Superbad, Knocked Up, Hot Fuzz, Black Snake Moan, Waitress and Walk Hard).

9/10.

Take your pity party elsewhere. Appreciation for this movie was not dependent on whether or not you have or have had a girlfriend.

I really dug this movie. The flowery language got a little old in places, but it was still a lot of fun. And, when the emotion came in, it came in strong. Great movie. Lotsa heart and lotsa laughs. Plus, pretty awesome movie.

I like the movie. Ellen Page is a good actress, she was underused in X-Men The Last Stand.

Saw the film last night, everyone in our group really liked it. I didn't laugh as much as say Knocked Up, but overall the film was better and sure to be a classic. If the DVD has attractive extras I'll buy it.
