Jurassic World - Part 6

i wonder if Whedon has any issues with the old Star Wars trilogy, more specifically the banter between Leia and Han

His issue with Empire is one of the few times I just rolled my eyes, said "Okay, Joss" and went on with my day.

Was that just that it wasn't a self contained film?

Bryce was fantastic in The Help. :oldrazz:

Eh, You will nevah hear Nolan or Snyder take shots at Marvel publicly. But Whedon has talked about DC. Lawd.

He does have a zombie like following though.

I understand where Whedon was coming from in regards to Empire. But of course you are gonna get the "OMG HE ATTACKED ONE OF THE BEST SEQUELS OF ALL TIME HOW DARE HE EXPRESS AN OPINION DIFFERENT FROM MINE" knee jerk reactions from the usual suspects, even if what he actually said wasn't some outrageous troll statement.

You can bathe him now, sir. I quit.

In an interview with Badass Digest, Whedon actually said his tweet was bad form and said he shouldn't have said it. Good on him for owning up to that. Thank God.

His backtracking because he's got a movie opening in couple of weeks and doesn't want fanboy ire is pretty transparent to me.

Oh I'm sure it wont. It's just if you are going to tweet something like that you better back it up and not cave because you are getting flack.
I'm sure with the press rounds he's going to be doing he doesn't want to have to hear about it over and over and backtracking is the easiest way to try and make it go away quickly.

I guess ESB isn't totally self-contained and I don't mind someone having a problem with that or preference against it. But it will be blatant to them as much as anyone else then that a non-self-contained film can go on to become one of the all-time best and many people's all-time favourite film.

The Indy joke comment was ridiculous though and I'm glad he acknowledged that.

Good. Back to dino-talk!

The clip IS sexist but it shouldn't be judged until it's taken in context with the rest of the film.

Man the minute that clip was posted this thread went into all sorts of different directions and spirals haha.

Marvel probably told him to backtrack, but Whedon meant every word he said. I hate these BS apologies that have become so common these days. It's nothing but a PR move.

He should have just kept his mouth shut, than he wouldn't have to put out a BS apology. His original comments are tacky as all hell.

I just hope for his sake his film doesn't have a single sexist thing in it, cause someone on the internet is going to be going over his film with a fine tooth comb looking for some sexist bit to call him out on. That we can be sure of.

This won't hurt AOU at all, but if AOU does have something remotely sexist in it at best he will look like a hypocrite and at worst like a fool who doesn't know his own film contains the very thing he is attacking another film for.

I get Joss is talking about it. I'm not going to condemn him for it, though he's throwing a fellow peer Colin under the bus.

Must be awkward for Trevorrow to read about.
