Jurassic World - Part 7

^ It's advertised as such in interviews and whatnot, and I think they posted an animatronic Raptor head when they started shooting, but I don't recall spotting one in any of the footage. I've been avoiding a lot, though.

I remember seeing that animatronic raptor head and I think most CGI you can hardly even tell now days but I want a good amount of animatronic so that in say 10 years from now it will still look good where with CGI 10 years from now it wont look has good. I am getting to the point where I need to not watch any more. I think the movie looks like it is going to be great and I don't want to spoiler it.

I thinks with good, well-implemented CGI it ages well as it's well hidden for its time regardless of future improvements. That's why I think the first Jurassic Park stands up so well while the Star Wars prequels don't at all.

I think there may be an 'up yours' towards JP3 in some ways.

Maybe Claire and Owen state the T-Rex has the greatest bite force of any dinosaur, and thus that's why they let her loose to fight the iRex. Flying in the face of what JP3 showed during the Spino fight.

And it'd be hilarious if the spino fossil display was destroyed during the T-Rex/iRex encounter.

I believe you can spot the animatronic raptor in the tv spot where Chris Pratt's character is talking to new the hire after he almost gets attacked by raptors. The animatronic raptor is in a cage.

^ Like I said, I've been avoiding a lot. But happy to here there have been a few animatronic sightings.

There's definitely a lot of CG in the film, but they've said there's animatronics as well. Will be cool to see all the behind the scenes and special FX breakdowns on the blu ray to see what is what :)

That would be ****ing alley. I also think it's very possible since you see Claire running away from something holding a flare.
My theory is that she is using it to draw the T-Rex into a fight with I-Rex. Considering Trevorrow's statements on the film's themes of people losing interest in the wonder of the natural world and the rage that was generated when the Spinosaurus killed the T-Rex in JP3, it would be very awesome and meta and would feel like a complete missed opportunity if they didn't do it.

I may have been wrong about tracking devices being in the animals of the restricted area. Really thought I read it or saw it mentioned somewhere. Either way. They have tracking devices for sure in the JW animals, but as you read the article in the film the kids definitely stumble into the old visitors center. So we will see some of the old park overgrown in the film (we already have quickly in one of the TV spots).

No you were right. On page 4:

Even the surviving dinosaurs in the closed off section of the island have microchips and are tracked. However those areas of the park like the old visitors center don’t have the security camera monitoring systems of the new areas.

How awesome is it that in two sequels they didn't return to Site A? Had they, this wouldn't feel nearly as special.

Gonna be awesome to see the new park and old park.

Saw a promo for it tonight during MNF, have we seen the shot before where the Dino kicks the Gyrosphere like a football?

We've seen shots of the Ankylosaurs swatting the Gyrosphere around with their tails.

This one kicked it.

Which dinos?

I'm not so good with the names outside the more well known ones, makes me wish I still had my sticker book from when I was a kid lol. They were on two legs and there were 3 of them.

The preview was on before Mad Max and it hit me, the marketing for this movie is phenomenally anti-intellectual, it feels like it's aimed at crackpots, and creationists in the bible belt.

You have a guy who looks like a jock/hick saying to the nerds "you invented a new dinosaur?", as if experimentation for knowledge is automatically wrong, and of course the movie validates his logic, and of course he's going to fix everything with his muscles and traditional values.

There's this dark ominous music when the nerdy scientist mentions inventing a new hybrid, and you see some ugly colours.

It ain't experimentation for knowledge because they already knew they could do hybrids. It's for profit and marketing.

I hope it has better dialogs so far it's beyond awful. Original movie had some great quotes and some intelligent talk between characters despite being a popcorn movie.

Also re-creating an extinct animal is debatable subject let alone changing it's nature. Dr.Grant and rest of them were against bringing dinosaurs back to life in original.

…Have you seen any of the Jurassic Park movies, or read either book?

The theme of the Jurassic Park franchise (and this movie, especially) is about the reckless use of genetic engineering, and the dangers of corporate-minded science. It’s not anti-science, but a cautionary tale of profit-driven science that is untethered and ignorant of responsibility.

The following quotes from Malcolm in JP1 perfectly encapsulate what this film is about:

“Don't you see the danger, John, inherent in what you're doing here? Genetic power is the most awesome force the planet's ever seen, but you wield it like a kid that's found his dad's gun.”

“I'll tell you the problem with the scientific power that you're using here, it didn't require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn't earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don't take any responsibility for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could, and before you even knew what you had, you patented it, and packaged it, and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now you’re selling it.”

“Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should.”
