Hitler kettle' sells for $199 on eBay
A kettle that looks like Adolf Hitler has sold for $199 (£130) on eBay after the kitchen appliance, which has caused a web frenzy, appeared to have sold out on the JCPenney website.

Images of a billboard advertising the kettle in California, taken by bemused motorists who noticed the appliance's resemblance to the Nazi dictator as they drove by, went viral over the weekend after they were posted to the user-aggregated website Reddit.

The Michael Graves-designed kettle originally sold for the comparatively reasonable price of £35 via the JCPenney website - but by yesterday, after tales of its appearance took the web by storm, it appeared to be out of stock.

Last night the kettle popped up on eBay, where it appeared at least one user had been quick to cash in, offering multiple kettles for sale. "IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND RED HOT," read the description on one.

One of the kettles sold for $199, while others had reached bids of $185 and $180.

JC Penney told The Daily Telegraph yesterday that the resemblance was "certainly unintended".

umm yeah:hehe:

Looks like a kettle to me. People have an overactive imaginations.

I can see it there but it doesn't take a lot of imagination to see something that's not there when you throw in a favorable looking comparison next to it.

I had a kettle like that. It tried to annex my spice rack and kept shrieking at my bagels. But I kept it anyway: at least it boiled water on time.

All we need now is a Panini maker that looks like Mussolini.

I'm gonna get right on that.

I find it kinda funny that it's someone called 'the ultimate evil' who started a thread about a Hitler kettle...

The funniest part is the handle. :funny:

I'm a little teapot,
Short and stout,
Here is mein handle,
Here is mein spout
When I get all steamed up,
Hear me shout,
About how much I hate the Jews

I'm wondering if they'll come out with versions of Joseph Stalin & Benito Mussolini to complete a potential set.

I didn't know Mel Gibson was a songwriter... :o

I'm a little teapot,
short and stout.
Here is my blitzkrieg,
here is my kraut.

Well, it's certainly different than the Jesus sightings.

I've always wanted a kettle that looks like Adolf Hitler.

C'mon the hairstyle, mustache, salute.... How can anyone think it doesn't look like Hitler? If I saw that billboard without knowledge of this comparison, I'd still think it looks like him. I'm surprised no one caught this.

lol no... there's a resemblance and once it's in your head, it's hard to get it out, but if I had no prior knowledge and just happened to glance at the billboard, there's no way I'd immediately go "Oh, that's ****ing Hitler."

:csad:

Then what about this teapot? :o
