I think i've read this book a while back but I'm not too sure.

There's a guy (scientist?) who thinks the sun has gone supernova and that's why the moon is brighter than its' ever been. So he and his wife who are having trouble (Broken up or on their way to) spend what they think might be the last day on Earth.
