By now you all have probably read about this incident in some form or another but I haven't seen a thread on this so I'm adding one.

Being an ISP support I feel that I talk to these people everyday. Some days it's overwhelming but it's job security. However seeing this news article, I feel the hoplessness of our teachers' struggles. The breakdown of the American Education system.

I died a little when I read this article.

FORT WORTH — Students who had been planning to walk across the stage at graduation ceremonies this weekend were instead walking a picket line Thursday morning.
The Trimble Tech High School seniors marched in front of Fort Worth Independent School District headquarters to protest Wednesday's decision by trustees to bar students who failed the TAKS test from commencement exercises.

She's actually wondering why she couldn't graduate...

Wee wand two wak!

Wee wand two wak!

Wee wand two wak!

The "No Child Allowed To Excel Program" in action.

jag

They represent the 613 Fort Worth seniors who did not pass the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills exam.

I had 325+/- just in my Senior Class.

What the f' do they teach in Texas?

Let 'are' kids walk.

Speaks volumes for their education.

Is you is, or is you ain't my GED recipient?

I believe the children are are future.

The TAKS test is a farse. It is so damn easy a 5th grader should be able to pass the exit level of the test.

Walking is a privilege at graduation that is earned by passing the course, the TAKS test is a part of that course at the moment. They don't pass the course, they don't graduate. If you don't graduate, why would you even think you could participate in the ceremony? This is ridiculous, and does not speak for all Texas schools, but unfortunately , it does speak for many of them...

Farse
\Farse\, n. [See Farce, n.] (Eccl.) An addition to, or a paraphrase of, some part of the Latin service in the vernacular; -- common in English before the Reformation.

Farce
3.foolish show; mockery; a ridiculous sham.

thank you, and actually I think the test is alittle of both of those....but definitely more of the second...:o

Misspelling is almost forgiveable as opposed to the misuse of as common a word as "are" and "our"

I find this typical with people who have English as their native tongues. Misusing their and they're, or except and accept. It's quite sad.

I was just looking up commonly misspelled words 'cause I found some funny ones once and this site had "Bellwether" because Morans always spell it "BellWEATHER".

Nobody says "Bellwether".

Ah, that picture is priceless. Girl protesting that she can't graduate and the sign she makes has a basic grammar mistake.

Crystal Martinez complained that while she finished at the top of her class with a 3.5 grade point average, she is now blocked from graduation by failing the TAKS test.

"We know we're not going to get our diplomas, but we just want to walk across the stage," Martinez said. "That's all we ask for right now."

so even witha 3.5 gpa, she still could'nt pass the test? another example of how the educational system are failing students, by not teaching them what they need to know to pass a damn test. whats on the test should reflect what you are taught.

either this chick slide through highschool or the TAKS is farce. students with a 3.0 GPA orhigher should be allowed to walk and get thier diplomas IMO.

That are funny, cuz it are tru.
