Looking for good, fairly priced hotel in NY en Miami.

My fellow hypers, in may I (and my girlfriend) would like to visit the states. I can book the following flight:

15 may till 22 may, Miami
22 may till 29 may, New York

Can anyone recommend me some good and fairly priced hotels, nearby the beach area and for NY nearby centre?
Options they are providing in Holland through te usual channels will cost me up to 2000 Euro.

Or maybe some other option we haven't been thinking off?

In Manhattan, I stayed in the London where you had rooms that were reasonably priced as well as being a very good hotel. Of course, it all depends upon your budget.

In both of those towns, it really pays to know what part of the city you are planning to spend most of your time and then look for good hotels in that vicinity. It would make no sense to stay in Times Square if you're really not going to spend much time there, for example.

let me help you out and say pass on miami and pick fort lauderdale. You can still hit most of the spots plus a few others, but hotels will be cheaper and you'll be able to find parking.

If you wanted to stay on the cheap you should check out some hostels in both areas.

Also I think you need to fill in that online visa thing atleast 72 hours before coming to the states. No more filling in the green card on the plane. If you don't then they hold you or send you back. Security has mad crazy.

U got a comfy bed? Thanks guys. I'll also will have a rental so I might look into ft. lauderdale. What about the Wollcot or Pennsylvania in NY?

Long story short. I stayed at the Pennsylvania in NYC. We missed the last train out of NYC and it was Daylight Savings and had another hour added on before the trains started again at 6 AM.

We were tired so we went across the street from Penn Station. This was a few years ago but it was like $100 for the night and we were in literally a room no bigger than a prison cell on a twin size bed.

I'm sure they have nicer rooms but the smaller room was a little dated.

In NYC, look for a hotel within a few blocks of a subway station. It'd probably be best to stay around Midtown since that has most of the sights you're probably interested.

One recommendation, if you want to go to the Empire State Building, skip it and go to the GE Building (Top of the Rock). It's not as tall as the ESB but you get a much better view of the city and it will probably be less crowded. I went there 2-3 years ago at night and it was great.
