Making music videos from DVD clips

Does anyone know anything about making music videos (the type you see on YouTube) by taking clips from DVDs? I want to start doing it, but am unaware of the software involved.

I have one called imTOO dvd ripper, that seems to work for that kind of thing

Thanks, I've been using Movica to edit some trailers. It seems to worj fine until I check the finished saved MPEG and find it's saved all the wrong cuts. :S
