That is a ridiculous case. I applaud you.

Malice would you say it's cheaper to build your own PC versus buying a pre-made one. Short term and long term?

There are some things you have to think about.
If something goes bad.

if you build it, you have to figure it out.
Processor...motherboard...you name it....
That can be a nightmare

COST wise...
You can probably build a machine for a tad cheaper....but it has no OS...so you have to have the OS and do the install yourself.

I am trying to decide whether to go Intel Quad Core or the new Intel I7 architecture processer

I have the Quad Core in my laptop, the thing runs like a charm.

Why you going Intel anyway? If its a gaming pc i would have gone with a AMD processor

I must join this conversation. I built my first computer 6 months ago and I want to build another. I request the following information from you Malice:

CPU
RAM
HDD
Mobo
PSU
GPU

I approve of the choice of case, though personally, I've been leaning towards cases with top exhaust vents. The Thermaltake I was eyeing runs around $300. Anyhow. Tell me what you're planning and I'll share my specs. :)

I have updated the first post....my machine purchases are done...waiting for all the parts to come in to build it.

I finally built my system.
Its screaming.
Its an i7 as stated and has 8 cores...which means its a processor with basically 8 processors on it. Plus I believe it supports hyperthreading, which allows each processor to act like 2 processors...making 16 processors on one chip.

This is a big rig...the case...I have got to say, is EXTREMELY quiet...for a case having 4 fans, plus the processor fan, the power supply fan and the video card fan, its very quiet.
Quieter by quite a bit than my laptop

Nice case.

PSU, didn't see anything listed in the text or any pictures, but can you remove unneccessary power cables or are they all attached.

Nice processor.

Nice mobo.

Memory... Memory is memory. :)

GPU ain't too shabby.

You never noted what the machine was being designed for other than just a new PC. You a gamer or is this strictly you wanted a new toy? Was curious why you chose a terabyte hard drive over a raptor drive of SSD.

Games man....games!
PSU? Power Supply? Listed in the first post...
No...cabled cannot be removed....I am using them all but one right now

3GTB of RAM is fine for windows XP....when windows 7 comes out, I will move to that, and move to 6GB of RAM

So how much did that all cost ya at the end.

Um....I think it cost me a little over 1200 I think

A raptor SSD is just a little to pricey for me at the moment....

Having played around with Windows 7, you won't need to.

XP max you ever need is like 1-2 gigs.

Vista 2 gigs is the recommended, 3-4 is fine.

Windows 7 is more resource friendl. 1-3 is fine. I have a friend who is running Windows 7 on an old Pentium M with 512mb of RAM and no GPU.

A raptor SSD is just a little to pricey for me at the moment....

After seeing how much you spent, I just assumed that. :-p

Malice... Dude... Bro... Buddy... Pal... Friend... Cable management?!
