NEW YORK – Authorities in New York City say a man who tried to jump to his death from his ninth floor apartment was saved by a heap of trash bags that had gone uncollected since last week's blizzard.

Fire officials say the 26-year-old was taken to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan shortly after noon on Sunday. He was listed in critical but stable condition.

His aunt, Katharina Capatos, tells the New York Post it was lucky the city had the snow and hadn't cleared the garbage.

She says her nephew told her recently that he was worried about being evicted from his rent-stabilized apartment.

The city resumed garbage pickup on Monday for the first time since the Christmas weekend blizzard dumped over 20 inches of snow on the city.

Hope he recovers and takes it as a sign that his life is still worth living.

This man should be nice to his garbage from now on.

:oldrazz:

It turns out his neighbor had just thrown out his collection of cardboard boxes and foam padding.

Something tells me that this story is

*puts sunglasses on*

a pile of garbage.

YEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Looks like he was just...
*sunglasses*
...tossing out the garbage.

Looks like he is now...
*sunglasses*
...a piece of trash.

Something similar happened in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

After this thread, you guys should go see 'The Fighter.' Bale/Eklund jumps out of a second story window, into garbage, at least three times.

This happens all the time in the movies.
I guess the movies were right after all! What else have they been right about????
