So is this a spoiler for Ant-Man… not really. I’m obsessed with Star Wars. Who’s not? I’m 40 years old. I’m in the movie business. I went to USC. So I’m obsessed with Star Wars - and it didn’t start out as intentional, but it became intentional, including that beat that you referenced. It sort of happens in every Star Wars movie, but I was sort of looking at it, ‘Okay, is Phase Two our Empire Strikes Back?’ Not really, but tonally things are a little different. Somebody gets their arm cut off in every Phase Two movie. Every single one.

There's also Agents of SHIELD with Hartley and Daredevil with some of the strangers who went up against Stick. Anyone recall any in Agent Carter? Did anyone notice this trend because I completely missed it?

I suppose there's still technically time since Season 2 is still in Phase 2. It's probably only a movie thing and the rest are coincidences, but it's not too late.

There's a flashback scene of Bucky without his arm, and getting the bionic one attached.

Phase 2 official hand chopping list:

Iron Man 3 - Killian by Tony, which grows back through Extremis, but also Brandt lost her arm before exposed to Extremis

Thor: The Dark World - Thor, cut off by Loki but turns out to be an illusion.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Bucky is shown in a flashback being recovered in the canyon by Hydra, he is missing his left arm.

Guardians of the Galaxy - Groot has both arms cut off by Gamora, but shortly grow back. Nebula cuts off her bio-mechanical hand which was impaled on the side of the dark aster, in order to escape.

Avengers: Age of Ultron - Ulysses Klaue has his arm cut off by Ultron

Agent Carter - ?????

Agents of Shield - [blackout] Coulson dives to catch a terrigen crystal that is falling to the ground in order to save Mac and Fitz from being disintegrated. His hand begins to deteriorate, and Mac quickly cuts it off with an axe to prevent the disease from spreading.[/blackout]

I'm glad these films are closer to having more honest depictions of possible battle damage. But even breaking someone's legs at the knees is enough for me. Suckers aren't get up from that for a while.
