Simon Kinberg talks about the film's tone and story

The worst part of this is it makes every future story meaningless. Whenever anything goes wrong, no problem, just have Kitty send Wolverine back in time and he can fix it.

I thought the worst part was the fact that FOX felt the need to reset things in the first place.

Hollywood will only do what fans of that franchise will allow.

I still have zero faith in them delivering a decent Apocalypse. But if it does suck, they'll simply replace Kitty with Cable, to blind people of the fact that they're semi-rebooting again. Despite that, I am looking forward to Cap3 and Bat vs Sup in 2016.

Sinister Six will bomb hard though. Quote me on it.

Kinberg and crew has done more harm then good regarding the Xmen films. Continuity has gone out the widow. These people put their take on the characters and make changes for no reason. Kitty now has mental and temporal abilities? Bishop no longer has any real power but has a shadow of his power from the comic. He has to use Sinspot's power just to fire a big silly looking plastic gun??? What is that about? Doesn't matter cause Fox got what they wanted in terms of money and all it means is that the Xmen will never get back in Marvel's hand in our lifetime.

This is an F4 topic however so where do I start. Fox is so petty that they refused to let marvel get them rites back that they rush out a movie. Will it be an good. It's up in the air. Already fox is altering for reasons I don't get other then to put their take on characters they didn't create. The previous.F4 films were so underwhelming. The Spirit was their and They had the personalities on point but it stopped their. Their are to many negatives for me to list but Doom was awful and Galactus was a joke. The Surfer was well done despite the silly board is his power source. Not sure why that was done. I just have no faith in Fox. They wouldn't even let Marvel get the rites to SS and Galactus when Marvel tried to get them. Fox is never going to use those characters. I can go on and on. I despise Fox and what they have done.

If only Marvel's bankruptcy woes and Avi Arad never happened....

Yeah, but without their bankruptcy woes and Avi Arad, we might not have Marvel Studios today. It was Arad and those sweetheart contracts that led to Fox and Sony making Marvel movies, and proving that it could be done successfully.

Honestly, Fox got over their continuity problems by erasing most of it. Don't think too hard on it.

And didn't Marvel Studios cast Guy Pierce as Mandarin?

Out of Sony, Disney, Warner and Fox, only Sony seems to be trying to make terrible films.

And when Marvel was facing bankruptcy, that's when they sold their film rights which proved that their characters could work on the big screen. Blade, X-Men and Spider-Man were massive hits that put the company on the map. If not for those films, Marvel never would have started buying their rights back and making their own films. Plus, Marvel got most of them back.

New Line Cinema used to own the rights to Blade and Iron Man.

Universal used to own Hulk and Namor.

Sony used to own Luke Cage and Ghost Rider.

Lions Gate used to own the rights to Punisher.

Fox used to own Daredevil.

Now these are all characters who are part of the MCU. All that Marvel is missing are three properties and of those, Spider-Man is the only one likely to revert. We still don't have enough info to know how FF will turn out and if it's a hit, the rights won't revert. The rights will only head back to Marvel if this film is a Green Lantern-level flop where it fails critically and the bad word of mouth causes potential fans to lose interest. Right now we have NOTHING to go on.

Dude this is going to be worse than green lantern. AoU's first day will be more than the entire box office take of this film.

Seriously, do you think Fox has a hit on their hands when they are putting it head to head with a Pixar film which many are already saying it's destined to be up there with Toy Story and Finding Nemo in terms of quality and popularity. Heck even the worst pixar film pulled in over 60M opening weekend, more than either of the previous FF films.

This film is going to bomb, and bomb horribly. I don't think that means the rights revert either, because they already have a sequel down on paper, and I believe the deal is if Fox has stuff "in the works", they keep the rights.

They got Daredevil back because Fox had no plans to make another Daredevil film again.

Thats not really how it works, Fox need to be in actual production to keep the rights going beyond the estimated seven year renewal period, simply having plans isn't enough. The Daredevil rights reverted because while they had plans to make a Daredevil film, and even got close, they couldn't get the production going in time. And even having the film in production will not let them hold onto the rights indefinitely, it just gives them a bit of an extension (don't think anyone here has ever really heard how long that is). This is so that studios can't leave a film in production indefinitely just to hold onto the rights.

So while they have plans for a sequel until they get production on it started it doesn't really mean much. TBH it is probably just Fox trying to keep up a front for Marvel, a franchise that they don't plan to use isn't as valuable in any negotiations.

And still have Man-Thing for some bizarre reason since they're couldn't be arsed to make a sequel

I thought the rights of Man-Thing returned to Marvel around the same time as Namor.
