Marvel Studios' X-Men: The Roster

Iger is done with that "political" stuff. :o
Someone's existence isn't "political.' Sane and rational people don't see people's existence as "political." Thus it is obvious he never said that he would no longer show how diverse people are. In fact, he said the exact opposite -

"During last week’s interview, Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) CEO Bob Iger clearly stated Disney's main mission is to capture broad and increasingly diverse audiences."

It's safe to say that Iger thankfully doesn't align with the racists and homophobes demanding for entire communities to be erased and ignored on film just because it makes bigots mad.

I'd actually like to see the X-Men in the MCU as civilians before they become X-Men and then down the road they actually form the team.

My picks for the team would be:

Storm- I could see her being a "face" of the MCU. She's a great character which is the main thing (and she also "ticks boxes" so DIsney will get their money's worth with her.) They could eventually have her form a relationship with Shuri's Black Panther since she had a releationship with Black Panther in the comics and T'Challa is dead (although his son is also called T'Challa so he might be the one she has a relationship with). However, let her grow as a character before they throw her in a relationship with anybody.

Gambit- Not necessarily a full team member but an ally who often ends up fighting alongside the team because of his friendship with Storm.

Cyclops- Because you can't have the X-Men without Cyclops.

Jean Grey- Because you can't have Cyclops without Jean Grey.

Rogue- But only after they have her kill Captain Marvel. She won't be on the initial team but would join them further down the line (which then also paves the way for Gambit joining full time)

Wolverine- He's kind of expected because he's a "big name" but they could use him elsewhere if they choose to cover Weapon X ad Alpha Flight and then just have him as part of the ensemble for the X-Men movies.

Jubilee- Have her be older than a teenager but still the youngest member of the team so we get the same dynamic but avoid the teen angst.

They could either use the X-Men animated series line up or the X-Men evolution line up.

I wonder how many additional "Featuring X-Related Spin-offs" we'll get.

Stuff like X-Force and X-Factor, Excalibur, X-Force Investigations, New Mutants.

I want to see a movie for X-Force, X-Factor and New Mutants. Only those three.

I don't care for any solo X-Men movies. I hope they don't happen.

Ok we can pretty much assume the 97 cast will be the characters we’ve seen before. Any ideas of new characters?

I definitely think Psylocke will be a new addition

Psylocke would be great.

We haven't seen Gambit in the X-Men team, so that would be new.

Jubilee as a X-Woman would be new too.

I don't know if I immediately want him on the team, but Quentin Quire would be cool to see.

I don't want to see Quentin Quire as part of the team.

If I have to choose, "obscure" to become a member of the team - I'd pick Sage, Marrow or Cecilia.

They should add No-Girl and just not cast anyone or refer to her in any way

Laura as the MCU Wolverine.

I’m starting to believe this more and more. And Jackman will stay on as an older Logan in the MCU, like X-Men: Evolution.

It’s the different Wolverine that Feige’s been teasing. Then they’ll just recast the rest of the X-Men.

Not saying I love it, but I could see it…

What if he means actual cast members tho?

Not exactly an earth-shattering bit of news. I don't get these social media insiders.

I hope not or Wolverine will have to get Joe bidened

I doubt that as I think Marvel will want to build out X-Men as a long term asset with a 15/20 year view. There aren't all that many high profile, unused assets left that could bring recurring benefits and lead to a whole range of films and shows themselves once F4 and X-Men have debuted. Using OG actors in the short term with the multiverse, and keeping Jackman longer as Old Man Logan make sense, but I'm sure they want to build a young team that can go on for multiple phases and mega-events of the future.

My ideal is having Old Man Logan, X-23 AND a new MCU Wolverine. All 3 of those could hang around long term as the physical burden on Jackman would be far reduced.

Here comes a controversial idea. What if they added one of the new characters that just popped up in the comics? That worked for jubilee. A lot of her fans jumped on because of the cartoon that she just happened to be the youth protagonist in the comics at that time. So it could work for a new character

I mean I want them to do that, and I think they can't avoid doing that in some cases.

surprisingly, I like that idea.
It would feel really fresh and the character wouldnt include a lot of especulation/expectations from decades of stories in the comics, so there is no way to dissapoint his/her fans.

Thank you! Yeah it’s the easiest and most fun way of saying “this is a brand new generation and it’s not just going to be nostalgia bait”

with X-Men '97 being such a big hit, it definitely wouldn't be the worst idea to use Jubilee.
i mean yeah, she does have some history, but she could still work, and ignore some of her weirder history lol.

start with some live action Night of the Sentinels type stuff perhaps? Or as I'll always push, the way the team started up with Millars Ultimate X-Men run wasn't the worst either.

I think having Jubilee would be super great but I think If they really wanted to do the young POV mutant it can work with a few different characters, Magma, Magik, Kitty Pryde. I love Jubilee but I wouldn't want her to fill that slot if she's included.

It’s a shame we can’t make polls anymore. It would be so interesting to see who people would vote for as the point of view young person protagonist
