Feeling a bit more MK 1 than Mahval, which people have opinions on. Be interesting to see what the high level play will be like.

Not exactly Marvel vs Capcom 4, but it will definitely do.

Warms my heart to see mutants resurgent again.

I am curious about the roster. I saw an interview where they said they weren't necessarily going for the obvious choices.

Obvious choice or not but I know Kwannon better be in it.

I remember the days when Psylocke was the only female choice in an X-Men/Marvel game. :o

That’s what makes me happy is that they aren’t sharing a roster with Capcom.

Other than not having Capcom characters take up space, there's another good thing I can say about this not being another MVC. It means it's very unlikely a "character" like Sentinel will be in. If they want a robot character, there's better options like Nimrod or Bastion.

Seeing as how this is the first 4v4 tag fighter, based on Marvel characters, it should have all four of the F4. Though whether all of them make the base roster will probably depend on how big it is. And before someone brings up Ms Marvel, as gameplay videos show, she's shown to be a close-to mid range brawler. She is a grappler that wants to pull the enemy in. Reed would not and doesn’t need to play like that. He can be a long range zoner using his elasticity and technology to keep the opponent away.

This also applies to Hulk(not confirmed, but extremely likely) and Thing. If the developers want to put in a character that has similar powers as someone else in the roster, they WILL find ways to make them play differently. These guys pretty much create fighting game characters for a living.

If the roster were huge, then maybe. I just don't think you are going to get a roster big enough to have the F4 at launch. Of course, we will get a better idea once they start revealing characters.

Starting to throw in that Guilty Gear music in.

Green Goblin, please.

GG, Ock, Black Cat or even Mysterio would be some of the SM characters I'd like to see over Venom.

I expect the roster to be divided into teams of 4, and it's more likely to have just 1 team of X-Men. Storm is already there and Logan will most likely be too. If the other 2 spots left are Erik and Magik, I swear to god :weeping:

I'd bet money on Wanda and Daredevil being there too. Popular choices and not so obvious on a Marvel fighting game.

I actually think Armor is going to make it in after Wolverine, who I'm not entirely convinced will be Logan.

And honestly, Cosmic Invasion has me hopeful for a fun, different roster.

The cosmic side of Marvel is not much my cup of tea, so it's only natural I'm not too hyped about the roster of Cosmic Invasion. I do think Cyclops and Jean are a fitting couple of characters for a cosmic adventure, which would get my attention, but I'm not holding any hope of seeing them.

In one of Marvel Tokon videos, Storm is referred to as the leader of the X-Men. While this doesn't necessarily rule out Scott from being in the roster, it could be a clue.

I also think each of the 8 characters revealed represent one team of 4, having maybe 32 characters total.

Cap and Tony: 2 Avengers team.
Storm: X-Men team.
Doom: Villains
Ghost Rider: Mystic side
Quill: Cosmic side
Spider-Man: Street level or other solo heroes.
Kamala: Young Avengers or legacy characters.

I would be hesitant to say it will have more than 24 at launch. Even BB Cross Tag, which repurposes stuff from other games, only launched with 20.

I do think they are going to avoid some of the bigger faces of MvC, like Cyclops and Magneto.

But since this is a 4v4 game, having 24 wouldn't run the risk of repeating characters in the rounds? Idk...

I dont know any other 4v4 fighting game, really.

Battle for the Grid launched with 9 (with 3 more free added very soon after) for a 3v3. Invincible I think is also going to be under 20, I think.

There is no other 4v4. Tokon is the first one. Given what I've seen so far, even teams with the same characters will play differently. The position you are determines you partner's assist. Also, the order in which you unlock and gain access to them during a match. A Doom main/Spidey/Storm/Cap squad could very well be extremely different than a Storm main/Doom/Cap/Spidey team. I haven't quite gotten into the pro player vids that are coming out of Evo so far, but my initial impressions feels GG with some MK 1 kameos.

Yeah, having watched some of the Tokon beta, you may want to prepare yourself for a small roster. This isn't a 4v4 tag game like MvC. This is more like 1v1 with 3 kameos from MK1. Tagging is possible, but it seems like it is discouraged.

Yeah, I think people may need to start preparing themselves for the worst case scenario in terms of roster size.

I'm mostly disappointed Kurt, Bobby and Remy got deconfirmed. Mostly Kurt. I was hoping for one of them as one of the mutants. Again, mostly Kurt.

I'm preparing for my worst case scenario: Storm, Logan and Magneto as the only mutants again.

The X-Mansion with Angel, Psylocke, Colossus, Iceman and Gambit in the background is cool to see.

A X-Men focused game would have been way more exciting for me.

I got the invite for the closed beta!!!

I'll be playing the whole weekend, yay!

:chd:

A lot of people are deconfirming, at least in the base roster, all of those X-Men characters. Not only because they're background characters, but mostly because of their simple design, which makes sense.

However, at some point, Bobby is watching the fight closer, and you can get a better look at him. And I thought there were more... thought... put on his design. Not just all the spykes around his head, shoulders and a little bit on the legs, but the uniform details on whole body which can be hard to seem from the background because it's all made of ice. I thought his design wasnt as ridiculously simple as Angel for instance, or straight from the comics as Rogue, Gambit, Kurt, Colussus and Betsy.

But anyway, we'll see.

Bobby as a playable character would be cool (pun intended).

Ok, I take back what I said. Bobby doesn't look that much well thought...

I take back what I took back. Bobby does have a different design than the others.

It'd be cool if he's in the base roster.

My reasoning on those characters being deconfirmed is I know how ArcSys works. They don't do multiple skins. And they were pretty clear the roster is going to have unique designs, and the background characters had comic costumes.

Any way, looks like it is going to be a long wait. Not making Evo, so at best, second half of 2026.

Bobby does look different, so there's still a chance for him. Sadly not for Gambit, Rogue and Kurt, 3 characters I really wanted.

My experience with this game was pretty great. Definitely not a 4v4 as I thought. It's basically 1v1.

I have tried all characters, but the time was limited.

I saw people joking about Tokon Storm eating Rivals Storm alive, and I'm happy to say this is true. Tokon Storm is a pretty great character.

Actually there's no weak character here. Kamala was just the only character I struggled more, but she and Peter are 5/5 level of dificulty. And I didn't have enough time. Peter still felt easier than her tho.

The worst part of the experience was the limited time to play. There was some moves I wasn’t able to learn, but again... time.

Doom, Storm and a bit behind, Peter, were the characters I enjoyed the most. And Ghost Rider, for me, was a great surprise. Super fun.

At the end of the survey there was a question about which characters would you like to see. And since they'll probably be using some sort of tag cloud or something, I have mentioned about 50 characters. Let's see what stands out. 😅

Edit: Peter I mean Parker, not Quill. But Quill was fun too.
