I used to be a salesman for a window company, and the way it broke, means it's tempered glass. Tempered glass is very strong and heavy, but if you hit it just right with something metallic, it will easily shatter like that. Maybe something on the tray hit it just right (knife or fork), or maybe something on the table that she tripped on did it.


Or, it could be fake, but tempered glass can shatter like that if it's hit just right.
