Michael Mann Takes The Big Stone Grid

First announced for development last year, Columbia Pictures' The Big Stone Grid now has a director. Deadline reports that Michael Mann has signed on to bring S. Craig Zahler's spec script to the big screen.

The present-day crime thriller focuses on two detectives who uncover a gruesome exortion ring operating in New York City.

The article also says that Mann himself is expected to do a rewrite alongside Zahler and that the setting for the film could be relocated to Los Angeles.

This is the type of project I want to see Mann take on, I'd love to see Bale and Cruise as the two detectives.

Of course its going to take place in LA, most of Mann's films have. And yes I agree Bale and Cruise would be awesome as the detectives. I like Mann's films though and glad he is making another one, his last one was back in 2009 with Public Enemies.

I have to read the script when I get the chance but just by a quick browse I think these are the 2 lead characters:

GARRET WINTER, a lean thirty-nine-year-old blonde man with a scar above his left ear and a crooked nose

BENJAMIN WILLIAMS, a strikingly handsome forty-three-year-old black man with a thin mustache, close-cropped hair, significant sideburn

This sounds like a Denzel Washington project from reading that lol.
It really could be he is always paired up with a handsome white guy and there a rookie and he puts them through the grinder or they go through some crazy stuff together .
