I'm assuming everyone already knows that the reason Mickey's nunchukus didn't get much screen time in TMNT was due to UK restrictions. Personally, I would love to see some "chucking" a la movie 1. I'm sorry but his nunchukus are a large part of his character. I say "F%#$ the UK!! and show some d@#& chucking!!" What are everyone's thoughts on this issue? The way I see it, you can't have Mikey without his nunchukus.

As far as I know, this is no longer an issue in the UK. I assumed the real reason we don't see much nunchuck screen time is the same reason that we didn't see much bo screentime: the story revolves too heavily around Raphael and Leonardo.

If you pay attention to Mike during the fighting scenes, he is never shown using his nunchakus offensively on-screen. I never noticed it until I did some research on the movie and found an article that stated the filmmakers weren't allowed to show him using nanchakus due to UK restrictions on the weapon--there are actually several nations that have restrictions on nanchakus--and actually, nanchakus are completely illegal in New York (I thought that was interesting considering the Ninja Turtles live in NY).

Apparently there was a TV show that switched out his nunchucks for some other weapons due to legal issues in the early 21st century.

My hope is that Donny and Mike will get some more screentime in the next movie and we'll get to see some chucking. If anyone has info on the use or non-use of his weapons please post 'em here.

we better get to see some chucking

He does use them offensively on ocassion, such as fighting Shredder.

What the crap?!?! Somebody moved my thread!!! Why??! This belongs in the "TMNT sequels" section!!!!

not when there is no TMNT board

and for your information the whole nunchuk thing in the uk was lifted years ago, so its nothing to do with that

Restrictions have been lightened... they are no longer "illegal" but are considered "dangerous weapons" equivalent to a knife. They can't be sold to anyone under 18. Depictions of weapons and violence is a lot more conservative in the UK and therefore strictly censored... especially on a film with children as the target audience.

Yeah, in the original series, around the 90s, Mikey stopped using chucks and used the grappeling as a weapon. I also remember hearing that in the UK, they changed the name to Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles because the censors found Ninja to be inherently too violent. I don't know what the policy is now. But F that, he should have chucks despite other countries policy on them. It really doesn't make sense. Leo's swords are ok, and American kids have grown up playing with toy guns for generations, but nunchucks are too violent. What's New York afraid of, drive by chuckings?

in the 80's maybe, but check out some english films and stuff, if anything I would say these days the u.k is more leniant than the u.s

im sure theres a thread where the dir talks about the reason on thetechnodrome.com

the UK used to have that restriction but doesnt any longer. the reason why the chucks were cut (much to the annoyance of the dir) was just keeping it in that PG category.

just a general thing...plus i think other european countries stillhave those restrictions.

theres like 30 minutes of cut footage from the CG TMNT movie....just a shame it wasnt fully restored on the dvd like the dir was hoping

that said, i thought the movie was nice to look at but pretty underwhelming in other areas. i guess thats just more to do with growing old than the movie itself...
