Mike Deodato interview on comicus.it

Awesome interview. Deodato is the man (check my avy). I look forward his work on Dark Avengers.
Mike Deodato said:
You know, I figured there'd be backlash, because Gwen Stacy is up there on a pedestal. I think it's the kind of story readers will rationize as "never having happened". In its defense: A lot of people remembers Gwen Stacy as being this sweet, pure girl and Mary Jane being the party animal, but they either forgot -- or never read -- the earliest stories introducing Gwen. She was such a *****! Really! She put down Peter Parker and smugly hung out with Flash Thompson and her richer friends, and didn't even notice Peter till he got "cool" by driving a motorcycle. Go back and read it, it's all there. Then she was nice to him once she was actually his girlfriend, but that early glimpse of her hinted that, perhaps, she wasn't 100% peaches and cream, after all.
LOL! Gwen just got pwned!

Deodato is the only reason I'll be getting Dark Avengers.

So Deodato's rationalization for Gwen f***ing Norman is that she initially played hard to get, years before the events from "Sins Past" would've actually taken place? That seems... not... like something a normal person would say.

Being a ***** and playing hard to get are two different things.

Deodato blew me away with this Thunderbolts work. From his insane layouts to his dynamic action scenes which would only be ruined by "sound effects",I thought this was his best work.

I haven't enjoyed any of Bendis' Avengers work, but I'll be picking up Dark Avengers just for Mikey

I don't think I've ever really enjoyed Deodato's art, myself. But he's certainly improved over the years, which is great. Fewer and fewer comic artists these days seem to actually build on their work and get better over time.

I hope Dark Avengers is what i think it is and its a team of the Marvel U's nastiest villains led by Doom. I would LOVE to see Doom drawn by Deodato.
