Darren Aronofsky Considering A "Moonfall"

Darren Aronofsky is reportedly interested in David Weil's sci-fi spec script “Moonfall” which has been shopped around this week. The story is described as a "Fargo"-like thriller set on the moon, giving the project a unique angle rather than the typical sci-fi story.
Aronofsky is one of several high-profile talents who has read and liked Weil's script. He's said to have had exploratory talks regarding the material, but has yet to commit to the project and is not officially attached to produce let alone direct.
Weil's "Half Heard in the Stillness" was voted to the 2013 Black List of Hollywood's most liked un-produced screenplays. That film deals with a young man dealing with reassimillating into the world following a decade of captivity in the basement of the child predator who abducted him. The recent disappearance of another local boy ties back into his case.

Indie Audax Outbids For David Weil Spec ‘Moonfall’

EXCLUSIVE: Indie film financier-producer Audax has closed a deal for Moonfall, a spec script by David Weil. Audax had company for a film that centers on an FBI agent who travels to a moon colony to investigate its very first death. This marks the third feature film deal for Weil. Warner Bros just bought his “script-ment: for a seven-film franchise based on The Arabian Nights. Weil, who developed that story with his brother Matt Smolinsky, is in preproduction on his 2013 Black List script Half Heard In The Stillness. Anonymous Content bought his first pilot script, Consent.

Audax is run by Andrew and Walter Kortschak, whose films include Cop Car, the Jon Watts-directed pic that stars Kevin Bacon, and the critically acclaimed documentary Print The Legend, which Netflix acquired.
“Moonfall marks new territory for Audax and interested us from the moment we picked up the script,” said Andrew Kortschak. “That excitement was only further enhanced by meeting David, whose talent and creativity at such a young age is truly awe inspiring.” CAA brokered the deal for Weil, who’s also repped by Jessica Moresco of Unified Management and attorney Peter Nichols.
