Not surprisingly, the upcoming Diamond Edition of 1991's Beauty and the Beast is getting stellar reviews across the board. This week, we get word that in addition to the hours of special features, the Blu-ray also hosts trailers for several upcoming Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment releases.
The 2011 discs being promoted are: the Diamond Editions of '42's Bambi and '94's The Lion King, a 60th anniversary edition of '51's Alice in Wonderland, and a 70th anniversary edition of '41's Dumbo, expected in February.

Your thoughts, guys?

Definitely Lion King, oofta makes me cry every time

Love the Lion King, MIGHT buy it (still have it on VHS). Bambi and Dumbo are good choices to become Diamond Editions, too. Alice, however...really?

I really hate Dumbo, and why is Peter Pan not getting a diamond treatment i wonder, surely that has a far greater grasp on young childrens imaginations than Dumbo.

What exactly constitutes a "diamond edition"? This is the first I've heard of it.

I dont see the point in doing another Alice in Wonderland DVD when they just came out with one early this year.

I bought Sleeping Beauty on blu-ray, and omg, it looks like a brand new movie. SO more diamonds please.

Exactly my point. That and the movie sucks. If I have to see another bloody comercial for that damn film, this is what will happen:

Nah. The animated one was good IMO. I just dont see any point in releasing it two years in a row.

Was kinda hoping Hunchback of Notre Dame and Little Mermaid weren't too far off

i have lion king...not sure if i own Beauty and the Beast...I love that movie

Well IMO, it kinda sucked. WAY too goofy and the voice actress who did Alice drove me insane (made the character look like a *****ebag). And the cop-out ending was inexcusable. Sorry guys but it's true.:dry::yay::yay::dry:

Just a rerelease of every film that Disney has put out on Platinum edition.

Will be buying Bambi and Lion King since i need to complete my collection. And whenever they rererelease Little Mermaid Diamon Edition i will probably pick it up on Blu-Ray since I should have a Blu-Ray by then..

I hope they rerelease in Diamond Edition format more than just the few movies they did in Platinum. I want to see Hercules and Tarzan and a few others get rereleased.

i like Dumbo lot i like lion king. i never brothered with the squeals. my favorite disney moive is olver and company i like altians and a goofy moive. which is my favrotie disney moive.

are they even releasing the direct to DVD sequels at all? Or are they just gotta let them die into obscurity?

Is Sleeping Beauty a Diamond Edition?

What about The Great Mouse Detective? Seriously.

Technically, Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio were 2-disc Platinum Edition Blu-rays. The re-releases of Snow White and Beauty and the Beast are what are supposed to replace the Platinum Editions.

I won't expect Disney to do Diamond Editions of Peter Pan and The Little Mermaid until 2013 and 2014 respectively. Disney usually has a 7 year moratorium on their movies before they re-release them again.

They always release the sequel DTVs around the same time they release the Platinum/Diamond editions.

I hope they rerelease in Diamond Edition format more than just the few movies they did in Platinum. I want to see Hercules and Tarzan and a few others get rereleased.

Hercules and Tarzan arent part of the Platinum/Diamond Edition. Only their highest grossing movies are. Only time they will probably get some kind of rerelease is when they hit a anniversry year.

1 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
2 Beauty and the Beast
3 The Lion King
4 Aladdin
5 Bambi
6 Cinderella
7 Lady and the Tramp
8 The Little Mermaid
9 Peter Pan
10 The Jungle Book 1967
11 One Hundred and One Dalmatians
12 Sleeping Beauty
13 Pinocchio

These are basically the only films you can expect to keep getting rereleased in Diamond--Gold/silver/whatev editions. Minus Aladdin.

found a copy of the 03/04 dvd for a REASONABLE price not long ago on ebay :)

definatley going to get beauty and the beast this month :D

I just hope they arent stupid this time around skim back on the special features. They will release certain special features on dvd then leave them off on Diamond Edition.
