Did anyone happen to catch Radio2's Jeremy Vine program today?

Amongst topics discussed wasthe incident of MP John Reid being heckled by a radical muslim cleric as he adressed an audience on maintaining vigillance over their children, to prevent the onset of extremism in Islam.

As usual, Jeremy had 2 guests to discuss the incident - One for the cleric who ranted, and one opposing him.

Oh my god was it a hell of a show! The guy who was for the cleric was ranting and raving at his opponent - a moderate Muslim woman - shouting about how she was "half naked!" and "doesn't even know how to wash properly!".

Really, it has to be heard to be believed! On this link you want to look for the Listen Again of Thursday, the rant in question is the second item in on the show, so you may want to skip the first 15mins.

I am not biased against Muslims, i'm biased against people who wish to curtail freedom of speech. I'm biased against ideologies held by certain people of many faiths. I thought Mexico was having some political problems at the moment. My bad if they're not.

Actually he doesn't if anything this thread points out the difference between good moderate muslims and hardcore extremists that just want to repress women and won't debate anything. You on the other hand come across as someone who uses controversial words they don't understand in the pursuit of being the ultimate liberal.

but that's a cop-out, you could've edited the title, the title itself closes off to any argument, it's about generalization ,and you knowingly do it, so, yes, you CAN be blamed for it.

I admit I disagree with many of the specifics of islam but any even-handed person views a religion as rough guidlines (as the woman in question does) rather than as a strict doctrine (as the wanker cleric does). I also hate hardcore christians, hardcore jewish people (very inclusionist, only eat bread/meat provided and made by other jews [which in itself is rascist]...hardcore anything. You just jump on anyone who says anything negative about anyone.

Go have some fun with celldog and stop bothering the grown ups

Did you know, in California, by 2008, and new law that has been signed by the governator, will take effect?

It's called "the cellphone ban" People will begin recieving tickets.

What are you thoughts on this? This is probably the most asinine law someone could've conjured up... Instead of stopping the drunks, they stop cell phone users *gasp* If our own government can't enforce the borders, how do they expect to enforce the banning of all cellphones on the roadway...
