Let's take a poll.......

Two good DVD releases! But how do they rank head-to-head??

For My money, New Frontier was the best animated release to date.

Even the special features added more meat to what I had just seen. Cooke really filled in the details.

New Frontier. I had a few advantages over Superman/Doomsday...

1. Better character designs. Timm's attempt to make SD look different from his JL style worked against him. Meanwhile, Cooke remained awesome.

2. Better story. I've always thought the Death of Superman sucked, and was one of the most overrated stories in comic book history.

3. Better voice acting. There's nothing quite as awkward as Anne Heche doing a half-assed Hawksian Woman impression.

it was close imo i think they did really well with both but i had to go with new frontier cause of the artwork but i really liked the voice cast in sd i thought it was spot on whereas some of the voices in new frontier were a little off to me

New Frontier...Doomsday was a weak adaptation of the Death of Superman overall. It was good in certain areas, poor in others (the way the Supes clone was handled was lame).

I didn´t enjoy either too much, but I enjoyed Justice League: The New Frontier more than Superman: Doomsday.

I'm still not sure about Doomsday, but I know I enjoyed New Frontier.

They were both equally as good

couldn't pick 1 over the other

Lord, it astounds me that this is even being debated at all. It's like asking which kicked more ass, 300 or Meet The Spartans. Check the empty skull cause' this is a bonafide no-brainer.

-so sayeth the mastermind-

Easy, Superman: Doomsday. 8.5/10

I really like this movie. The action was great and the plot made sense. The music and Lois's voice were ok, and I disliked those lines on Supes face...please, don't do that again. It made him look kinda old.

New Frontier felt rushed, didn't like WW (she looked too manly and was as big as Supes!), the villains seemed too cheesy, hated that Superman was defeated too easily (that's what happens sometimes when he is part of the JL. They need to depower him to allow other heros to shine..ugh! He just looked way weak, IMO.). But I still like it enough, I guess, probably because some parts of the story were good, the characters were handled well, I liked the animation, music, and Supes looked and sounded great! 7/10

JL: New Frontier gets my vote.

Superman: Doomsday was alright. But it just deviated too much from the Death/Return storyline that I grew up reading for me to really enjoy it as much as I had hoped I would.

New Frontier easily. Even the cut down story was better than the travesty that was Superman: Doomsday.

The only thing Doomsday had going for it was the impressive fight scene.

New Frontier easily. Superman/Doomsday was ok but not what I expected. I never read New Frontier so I don't know how much is missing but what was in the movie was great, I actually cared about the characters and even though he's not in it much I REALLY liked how they did Batman.

they were both pretty bad but at least with frontier you weren't waiting for the fights....

actually it's a funny thing. frontier had a better story with a rubbish fight and doomsday had decent fights with a rubbish story...

how odd....

If we could somehow combine them and completely leave out anything related to Doomsday...

sounds fine by me...

personally i don't like shows or comics with generic entities as baddies, i like my villains to be more personal and relatable.

both pretty much have generic bad guys who are just there to get beaten up. Plot devices so to speak

why did you close the poll?

I pick doomsday, but i am biased because that arc was my gateway into comic books.

i actually didn't like new frontier as much as i expected. it was kinda boring at times. althought i thought the retro suits were an awesome idea.

rubbish story? what the hell?

"Alien pops out of the ground and smashes stuff. Superman punches it until they both die."

Most overrated Superman story ever told. People only ever liked it because of the shock of seeing Superman die, and because the sight of seeing so many people turn up at his funeral was so impressive. The actual cause of Superman's death was bunk.
