So with a new Tarantula over in the HEROES FOR HIRE relaunch (she's the red/black chicka next to Black Cat), I wanted to gage opinions.

To me, pretty much the next in line for Marvel's completely unnessecary appropriation of villian identies onto new, unknown commodities. Anyone remember the all-new all-female Scorpion over in AMAZING FANTASY? Yeah, where is that dame.

Anywho. With this apparently disconnected Tarantula, (maybe they'll throw in a family heritage as a throaway link) and the recent (to my blurring-by years anyway) Black Tarantula, I gotta say, why do they never bring back the real deal. [that terminology is unnacceptable here] with poison-bladed boots in a costume that mirrors Spidey's in a kick-ass way. Sick of these pretenders (though Blacky did rock).

Are they going to make female versions of all Spidey's villains or what? And why do I have feeling this new Tarantula will be soon forgotten?

you mean the one between bc and colleen wing?

Yeahs, that's her. New Tarantula. WTF next, female Will-O-The-Wisp who owns a clothing boutique?

THIS is the real Tarantula.

Weird that he's called the Tarantula when

a) his main weapon is his fatal sting, not something tarantula are known for (try black widows)
b) he's no bigger than Spider-Man
c) he's not as strong as Spidey
d) his colour scheme is red and blue, not brown/black and yellow/orange

But anyway, he's cool-!

meh, nothing beats the black tarantula, that dude was ****ing hardcore...

not many villains have beaten spidey up, unmasked him and not even bothered to seek out his identity just for the sake of having his own special collector's item.

hard. core.

He's South American, actually....if you need to use racial slurs, at least get your nationalities straight.

Jeez I was wondering when somebody was going to mention him. I love the time he put Delilah's head through a wall, and made the tarantula insigna with it

Yup, and like all good Spider characters stuck in Marvel limbo, he also appears regularly in Spider-girl.

did not like the first heroes for hire either.

You know, this series seems to me like it would be a good place to put the new Scorpion but they seem to have abandoned that character completely.

didn't he also break her neck in the process but healed it just to make a point.

I honestly did want his babies for a while...

What was really badass was when he got mutated into a man-spider during Roger Stern's run. He was killed off at the end of the story, but he looked AWESOME on the cover of one of the issues that was part of the storyline.

One of few highlights of the 90's. :)

Isn't the original Tarantula pushing up daisies? I seem to remember him getting his neck twisted sometime in the 90's.

Read Spider-Girl. He pops up there on the regular. Thought it still hasn't been revealed what he wants with her.

i've read a synopsis on issue 100, apparently he lays down the law in that one

i don't know whether there are any spider-girl graphic novels out, i dont collect individual comics, hard to stack on a shelf.
