Niki/Jessica: 1 person or 2?

This seems to be a hotly debated topic elsewhere and I thought I'd ask you all about it. And to the mods, if this kind of poll has already been done I apologize and feel free to delete this thread.

So, is she a split personality like the Hulk

or

are they 2 people residing in the same body?

What's your opinion?

I'm hoping for the latter myself. That way we'd get to keep the number of heroes we've got and add 1 more bad guy..er, girl.

Honestly, I think they are very different facets of the same personality.

the concept of being possessed by your evil twin seems lame to me, the split personality however, while overtly done never gets old. it makes sense after experiencing a traumatic event that she would do it.

She can possibly be two people in the same body. Yes, it is possible..I watched it on the science channel in fact. I forgot what the disorder is called but you can have two people sharing the same brain, body...everything. Its happened before but it is very very rare. I think that be cool rather than to go with the repetitive MPD.

Have any of you guys ever read John Byrne's Next Men series? If so you could see that Niki/Jessica might have a similar relationship to Danny/Gillian. I think it would be cool if Jessica could figure out how to leave Niki's body to posess other people. Another similar character would be Azazel in the movie Fallen(even though he was actually a demon).

Actually they both have acknowledged this. Both of them firmly believe Jessica is the dead sister living in Niki's mind. Whether they're right or just nuts is the question, but there is no question that this is what they both believe.

I never read Generation X(maybe I should). The only comic I could remember reading that had something similar was Next Men, but I'll check out Generation X.

There was also a case of this in House, the little boy who was really a pair of twins, just trapped in one body...the doctors had to do surgury to kill one of the twins since the boy's other persona was causing him to have strange hallucinations of aliens and abductions. I don't know if this is true story but I do know House tends to base some of their cases on true meadical mysteries.

That was chimerism. His twin didn't survive, but his genes were fused into the others. He didn't have another persona. But yes, it is real and extremely rare.

I'm wondering if she'll ever gain full control. Be able to channel Jessica as and when she pleases. We saw a small hint as to this when she was in jail and snapped the guards baton with fully reverting to Jessica.

Well either way I hope Niki is a chimera, that would be so cool! Then maybe doctors may try to eliminate Jessica via brain surgery but instead they kill Niki, leaving the evil jessica as a villain.

The boy had two sets of DNA, and it was his twin's DNA that was causing the hallucinations.

Niki/Jess is alright, they just need to write to her better.
