Iron Man No surprise, Jon says they're aiming for a PG-13 rating.

Well, R is too much and PG is too little for this kind of story.

Perfect call to shoot for a PG13 IMO

Iron Man is more gritty than the FF are, so a PG-13 was the right call.

Excellent. PG-13 for Iron Man should be just right :)

Whoever says R should be hung by their thumbs. Tony Stark is one of Stan Lee's grittier characters, but the fact that it's Iron Man means toys and merchandise which will have to be sold.

Yep...R wouldn't be right for this franchise.

Did anyone even want the R or PG ratings? I'm honestly interested, as I thought it would practically be universally understood that this would be shooting for a PG-13 rating.

Okay. if batman is perfect with a pag-13 rating then There's no reason why IM shoudn't. I think a pg-13 for IM is perfect. The movie will have action adventure but it will be mostly stylized and spectacular(yet believable) but not extremely gritty or brutal. Atleast it shoudn't be. The violence should be realistic but still have that adventurous fantastical quality to it.

I'd like a "hard" PG-13 ala Casino Royale type of mood to it so the seriousness of the subject matter remains constant. This is an "adult" superhero movie after all.

PG-13 is good, the MPAA is sorta lenient now, as long as Tony doesn't smoke they'll be fine.

Tony should be allowed to smoke :p .

It's OK to Joe Quesada for Wolverine to kill, murder, maim, and rip people to shreds. But if he smokes a cigar it's offensive and an atrocity.

Yeah PG-13 sounds about right, some of the tones in this film will require a more mature rating.

But no it def doesnt call for an R rating!

Wasn't Spider-man PG 13? I'm okay with Iron Man being PG as long as its not too cuddly and I doubt it will be from what I've seen in the war scenes

Well even within the individual ratings there's room for greatly different movies in terms of mature content. I keep bringing up Casino Royale(because it's about the hardest PG-13 in recent memory), but both CR & Fantastic Four were PG-13 but CR was way more mature & pushed the envelope. Lot's of wiggle room.

I wonder what an R-rated Iron Man would be like...Probably just a Robocop that flies.

I think some people need to understand the rating system better. Its just not just the type of story. Hell if anything the current system is very crappy. Pg and pg 13 ratings need a middle ground, same with pg 13 and R.

I'll file this under the not really news news. Seriously, everyone and there grandmother knew that they would be shooting for a PG13 rating.
