Agreed, though Aronofsky is very talented movie director, his movies didn't even get to the level of Nolan's filmmaking.

Well, we all have opinions, which can't be always the same.

Firstly, why do you call him MTV? Wasn't Aronofsky (I resepct him as a really great filmmaker actually) the one, who used MTV direction to express his opinion about social problems of today's world in his Requiem for a Dream?

The Prestige like also Memento and Batman Begins are my favorite movies, what explains my about Nolan.

I haven't seen Pi, and I was very disappointed with The Fountain. But yes, Requiem for a Dream is also in my TOP 20 and I loved it, but it can't be compared with Memento, which was one of the greatest movies I ever saw.

I still think that both nolan and Aronofsky are amazing filmmakers, but I prefer Nolan over any another director (except Spielberg of course).

For me, Aronofsky has a very deep view at out society, while Nolan is more master of twists and tangled storylines. And this is exacly what amazes me.

I'm still waiting for the Nolan film where the twist actually is a surprise, memento was close, but laid down too many clues for it's own good for me.

BTW, what you think about Edgar Wright? Today i've seen Hot Fuzz and I really liked it. It was like Shaun of the Dead, but without zombies.

When I was younger, the twist in FALLEN was a surprise, which was a pleasant one, but generally I find films with twists are just put there as a hook, more than anything else.

I thought Shaun of the dead was great, lots of subtle humour and little jokes made through insinuation, however Hot Fuzz was too much in your face and just annoyed me. I didn't laugh as all the humour was in the trailer and the jokes were thrown at you, rather than being given the crediblity to pick up on subtle humour. I have a review for it saved on my comp if you want me to post it?

I grew up with the very highest order of comedy as a child, ie: The Marx Brothers. No-one has yet to come close to that level of intelligent comedic design and delivery, even the python's could not touch them. SO I guess my standards for comedy are very different to most. Anyway, have a little read and give me your thoughts on it.

Hot Fuzz(Details here), is the latest offering from the 'Shaun Of The Dead' team, director Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as the stars. Trying to relive the international success they achieved before, this offering fails to live up to expectations.

Simon Pegg is Nicholas Angel, a sergeant in the metropolitan police force who is relocated to a quiet country town for being too good at his job, that he made others look bad. In this seemingly harmless town, he unearths a series of suspicious accidents.

Obviously as a comedy, there is a need for humour, which is sorely lacking. Anyone having viewed the trailer would have seen the entirety of the humour in this film. The comic moments are few and far between, and rather overworked, lacking the subtlety of 'Shaun Of The Dead' and being rather dull.

The special effects are reasonable, but the editing in the large shoot-outs make it rather irritating towards the end. As a string of badly worked action pieces are inappropriately linked together, the climax of this film fails to exist.

Editing is rather impressive in terms of mocking the whole 'Jerry Bruckheimer' phenomenon, but editing around the stunt double and suchlike make it an uncomfortable viewing experience indeed. direction is bland at best, failing to subvert the genre of which they are attempting to.

Overall, this film is unintelligent, dull and lacking in humour. Definitely a bad follow up film and really only worth watching for the easily pleased members of the public. Very missable and pretty much a waste of time.

Thanks, I rate comedies generally on how much they make me laugh, however some have other filmmaking notions, like this one and it's editing for example, which was the best bit for me, as it mocked something without saying it aloud.

But I didn't laugh in the film unfortunately, and that gives it a thumbs down from me .

Yeah, I see this. I usually rate comedies not just for their genre, but for their features and details.

I know all about the Phaser situation and i am not insulting i am merely telling it how it is,if it ain't arty/Foreign/indie or Old it's **** to you thus you're the classic film student cliche'.

That's not entirely true though, i've seen plenty of crappy movies from the above mentioned catergories, and have enjoyed 'big mainstream' movies also.
