State Supreme Court Justice Michael Obus told Lynde he must attend weekly therapy sessions, and stay away from his ex-girlfriend among other conditions, or the case could re-open and he could face up to two years in prison. Until then, he remains free.

No problems here; its the circle of life. Cats were weaker and therefore lower on the foodchain. He could have put them to use first though; the one time I killed a stray kitten, I fed it to my iguana so it didn't go to waste.

Surprised he wasn't punished more, but there might be something else to this story. The law can be stupid, but usually not THAT badly. Maybe the gf willingly looked the other way while this was happening, or maybe there was reasonable doubt that he was entirely at fault.

And if the same couple are coming multiple times in a 4-month period to get new kittens, someone at the shelter should have known that something was definitely up!

And he's self employed so I'm assuming he's home much more than her.

Now that I've experienced some of the stupidity out in the real world, I wouldn't put it past some people...

But yeah, anyone with half a brain would be sure to ask/accuse the bf first. And then kick him out and have him arrested after the second cat died.
