Joseph Kosinski Enters "Oblivion"

Joseph Kosinski ("Tron Legacy") has signed to direct actioneer "Oblivion", based on his own concept, as a feature film for Radical Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter

The story is set in post-apocalyptic Earth, where civilization lives above the clouds and scavengers illegally collect artifacts from the polluted and destroyed surface below.

When one young scavenger discovers a crashed spacecraft planetside--and a beautiful women within--he rejoices at the find. Little does he realize that his discovery will lead him to a journey filled with romance, adventure and unimaginable danger.

Kosinski will produce along with Barry Levine, David Fincher and David Morrison.

I gotta admit that I did think this was about Elder Scrolls IV, but I'd prefer that no movie ever be made from those games. The game was epic enough, and I got every possible thing done in Oblivion.

Disney Acquires Joseph Kosinski's Graphic Novel 'Oblivion'

Disney closed its deal to acquire Oblivion, the Radical Publishing graphic novel that will be turned into a directing vehicle for Tron:Legacy helmer Joseph Kosinski. Deadline reported on Monday that Disney had the inside track and an exclusive negotiating window after four studios bid on the property following last week's pitch effort. The other studios in the running were Paramount, Fox's Chernin Entertainment and Universal.

Oblivion is Now Horizons

Karl Gajdusek, the scribe who wrote the upcoming Nicole Kidman-Nicolas Cage thriller Trespass, has been tapped for rewrite duties on Disney's Joseph Kosinski project Horizons, formerly known as Oblivion.

Sounds like a pretty cool concept. Looking forward to this.

I really dig the concept art. If that is remains the style they're going for, it could be one of the most visually stunning movies in years.

Admittedly, seeing the title of the thread, I'm at once disappointed and relieved it's not Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.

It's good at least that the screenwriter is doing the script now. I don't want it to end up like Tron: Legacy. Ok, Legacy may have a ok story but it was filmed without a finished script. I just don't want this to be the same.

Seeing the title I immediately thought of the Elder Scrolls game. That would be a very long movie with a lot of filler.

At the same time, this project looks visually interesting and has a pretty cool concept. Hope it turns out alright.

I actually had the idea for when Humans live in the clouds because of harsh conditions on earth that follows a lowly guy who has his world views questioned after a significant event. Of course it wouldnt have ever been made, but idk still kinda ticked that the idea is already being shopped around
